Feeling Nauseous After Bowel Movement
I have IBS and recently have started feeling nauseous when I need a bowel movement. When I have a BM the nausea subsides. This is a new symptom.
Nausea: This reflexive reaction to the urge to have a bm isn't too unusual when the bm is somewhat urgent as often happens in IBS syndrome which actually can affect the entire gastrointestinal tract to some degree.
The gastrointestinal tract starts at the mouth, travel down the tunnel (esophagus), which connects to the stomach, which then empties into the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum---the three parts of the small intestine (@25 feet). This empties into the colon or large intestine (about 5 feet), which then becomes the sigmoid colon, rectum and out the anus. So, every morsel eaten ...Read more
I always get a nauseous feeling before and during bowel movements. This causes me to also have a racing heart and dizziness.
Get a checkup: Off the top of my head I would say that when you strain during a bowel movement, this may cause a vasalva which is physiogical response and causes your heart rate to drop and blood pressure will drop. Nausea accompanies sudden drops in blood pressure. Then your heart rate may return to normal or go faster. This does not explain the symptom of nausea prior to bowel moment you're straining.See 1 more doctor answer

Lots of stomach bugs: But your symptoms can be caused by lots of things & may indeed originate outside the GI tract. If persistent, further evaluation in order. Consider recent ingestants, medications, contacts, risks when determining cause & cure.

MANY CONDITIONS: Nausea can be due to many different causes and I see you are taking Advil (ibuprofen).Motrin and Acetaminophen.Motrin and Advil (ibuprofen) are same drug IBUPROPHEN and it can cause nausea/vomiting and other GI Symptoms Orher causes are Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and other GI Disorder You should get yourself checked as you also have headaches, fatigue pain etc.
Unclear: This is an unusual reaction. I would seek out a gastroenterologist, a medical specialist who can better help you with this...
No: It's certainly not normal to be nauseated after bowel movements. Sounds like something that should be evaluated by your physician.
I have had pain in my right side for about 3 months now, and cannot get any answers. It gets worse trying to have a bowel movement. Also nausea.?
3 months: After having right sided abdominal discomfort for three months, you should be examined by your physician. If there are associated bowel symptoms, inflammatory conditions like Crohn's disease must be considered. Gall bladder disorders usually cause right upper abdominal discomfort without bowel symptoms. If you had prior abdominal surgery, adhesions may be a cause. Chronic appendicitis unlikely.See 1 more doctor answer
Not uncommon: Some people are very sensitive to the feelings of their intestines moving and that is likely what is happening in your case. If this is normal for you, it is usually nothing to worry about
Each time I have a bowel movement I get nausea before \after the nausea sits just above navel also in he'd. Why do I get this?
Hard to say: Those symptoms deserve some type of work up. See a doctor for complete history and exam to start. You may then undergo tests with contrast material like upper GI series with small bowel follow through, barium enema, oe abdominal ct scan. Colonoscopy and / or upper endoscopy may be indicated. Blood tests probably in order too. Your doctor can decide.
Need more facts: Not enough information to hazard a guess.
Needs to be checked: Nausea during bowel movements can be due to constipation, related to your diet and eating habits or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. We need more information about your eating habits, if your bowels are regular or not, if you have any abdominal pain, if you are taking any laxatives or rx or over the counter medicines or vitamins etc. May need a GI Consult if it is constant every time. May need endo/colono
