No Sudaphed: Afrin will help with nasal congestion, & when used correctly has little systemic effect. The drug alone can only be taken short time or stops working. I suggest U ask physician for prescription of Fluticosone Propionate which sprayed in nostrils & breathed in once daily can help U to take the meds longer. Reasonable to test for flu & take tamiflu if positive. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ASA for other symptoms ...Read more

Have had headache x5days dizziness nause swollen glands that are painful?

Probable strep infec: This appears to be symptoms of strep. Are you having fever? A viral infection could cause the same symptoms. I would recommend fluids, Ibuprofen or acetamenophen, rest and observation, but if you are worsening or not improving in 12-24 hours, seek medical attention. If you have a feta cheese breath, a white membrane on the tonsils or rash, get seen now. ...Read more

Headaches, lightheadedness, falling down..also have swollen glands, chills, tiny red dots all over, fatigue?

Headaches, lightheadedness, falling down..also have swollen glands, chills, tiny red dots all over, fatigue?

Don't just sit there: Rashes are usually a sign that you need to hotfoot it off to the doctor. Falling down is also kind of a red flag. You know? Don't know where you live and it's a bit late in the year, but Rocky Mountain spotted fever is not an impossibility. RMSF later than September is kind of unusual but who can say. If it is RMSF, more bad things can happen. Maybe an ID colleague can weigh in. ...Read more

Can GERD cause lightheaded feeling and swollen glands? I am a 41 year old female, have a hiatal hernia. Feeling like food is stuck in chest as well.

Unlikely: I would see a doctor about the swollen glands and lightheadedness. Unlikely related to hh. Hiatal hernia and acid reflux could cause the esophagus to spasm or even develop scar tissue and narrowing. This would cause the feeling of food sticking or catching. I would see your doctor about getting a test to check your esophagus. If not already taking acid medication twice a day, recommend doing so. ...Read more

Should i go to ER if my glands are swollen a little feeling light headed sweating feel like my heart is beating fast feet and hands tingling and cold?

I will recommend : If the symptoms are new, to stay home hydrate yourself with water and gatorade. And if continue after 24hrs see a physician. If this is more chronic, still go a see a physician for a good history and physical. Ed were design to provide fast, life-or-limb-saving care. But if in doubt go to the nearest er. I have huge swollen gland under right chin where the jaw starts under ear, blood in mouth and burning upper back pain right sided, and dizziness :( ?

I have severe neck pain and the back of my head is also in pain more on the right side than the left. Swollen glands constant feeling of pressure?

Muscle spasm: Sounds like your neck muscles that extend up into your scalp are irritated. This may have been triggered when the lymph nodes rapidly enlarged. Why is another question - they respond to perceived threats to your body like infection. Moist heat, mild stretching and some ibuprofen might help. Massages good too. If continues or worsens see your MD. http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/guide/neck-shoulder ...Read more

Toppled in chair, fell from a height of about 4 feet and hit his head on floor. 36 hrs later, has a fever, is very tired, and has swollen glands.

Not related?: The fever and swollen glands are most likely not related to the head injury but I would have the little guy checked to be sure. When he fell was he knocked out or dazed? Or did he scream immediately? Usually if they cry right away that is a good sign. Either way, see a doctor. ...Read more
