When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Feeling is much like contractions, about 4" above the navel. Comes and goes. I am 9w 4d pregnant. No bleeding? Any ideas?
Gas pain: The most likely thing at this gestational age is gas pain or bowel spasm. Gallbladder pain also usually starts just above the navel then eventually goes to right upper abdomen. You can try some gas x (simethicone) and see if any relief. If taking iron constipation may also cause this type of pain. Colace (docusate sodium) helps with that. ...Read more

My periods are 8 days late, no pregnancy, from yesterday I am feeling pain in nipples could this mean periods are about to come?could I've ovulated?
Late period : Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit. ...Read more
At 31weeks pregnant I had contractions/was1cm dilated&had them stopped in hospital.35wks now, feeling it again, should I contact the hospital/midwife?
Yes seek care again: If you are an otherwise healthy pregnant woman and your only obstetrical problem has been preterm labor which was successfully treated at 31 weeks, most obstetricians/midwives would try to stop your contractions again and keep you pregnant until term, till your baby's lungs have matured or 39 weeks if possible. It would be wise to contact the hospital again today. ...Read more

I don't remember having contractions/braxton hicks during my first pregnancy so could that be what I am feeling? How would I know?
Braxton Hicks: Braxton Hicks contractions are mild cases of uterine contractions that can be felt by placing your hand on the abdomen and feeling tightening or firmness which comes and goes. You probably had them during your first pregnancy, but did not recognize them. Consider them a rehearsal by Mother Nature for the main concert which is labor. ...Read more

Feeling CONTRACTION like pain in my lower back on & off for a few weeks now. Not pregnant, tubes tied, no periods either, what can cause this?
Many things: Pelvic pain often feels crampy whether its of uterine, ovarian, bowel, or bladder origin. Lower back pain is often a sign of bladder infection. Even though you've had a tubal ligation, I would recommend you check a pregnancy test if you've missed a period. Since this has been going on for a few weeks, you should schedule an appointment. ...Read more
I am 40 weeks pregnant & i still have no contractions. Me & my husband had sex last night & im feeling more pelvic pain than before. Anything wrong?
Probably not: Sometimes the pelvic pain you are feeling can be contractions. They can feel a variety of different ways. Sometimes like sharp vaginal pains, sometimes like menstrual cramps. As long as your baby is moving actively and you don't have any other issues (bright red or heavy vaginal bleeding, elevated blood pressure, etc), it is probably not anything wrong. It could be public symphysitis or other. ...Read more

I am 36 weeks pregnant, Was dilated to a 3 last doctor visit 3 days ago, Now my contractions are 10 minutes apart im feeling very nauseous?
L&D evaluation : 36 weeks is preterm and at 3 cm dilated, you're at risk for early delivery. A 36-week infant should do well as long as no infection exists. You are probably in early labor, go to L&D for eval, see if you benefit from antibiotics (GBS status needed), and have good pediatric care at delivery in case your infant needs immediate care. Trust your OB & best of luck to you. (No induction recommended). ...Read more

Hello, I am 35+5 weeks pregnant and my cervix is high but very soft and open. Baby #3 an have been feeling pressure pains most day, not like Braxton hicks contractions though.
Need an exam: If you are 35weeks5days pregnant and having pressure pains you need an exam. False labor is fairly common in 3rd pregnancies but the only way to know for sure what is going on is to be examined. Call your OB or go to labor and delivery to be checked. Play it safe. You don't want to have a preterm baby at home alone. Best wishes to you and the baby. ...Read more
