Feeding difficulties is an umbrella term where any problems in feeding occur. This could be an infant who is not able to suck and swallow appropriate or unable to developmentally move on to advanced/complex food. It can also describe and elderly person who no longer has a desire to eat leading to significant weight change

My 21 wk girl is has season allergies 10 lbs 11 oz. Dx: ftt & feeding difficulties. Can i give her Benadryl (diphenhydramine) & what dose based on her weight?

No, never under 1 yr: Absolutely, definitely do not use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for a baby less than one year old. Do talk with the pediatrician for advise, it may not be allergy. Some believe children that young do not yet have allergies. A pediatrician may discover the real problem and provide the right treatment. Even a good pharmacist might recommend a safe alternative until you see the doctor. Best! ...Read more

Hypothyroid?: Without knowing what thyroid issue you have, it is dificult to give advice. I would assume you had problems with low (hypothyroid) if this is the case, yes you shoud continue the meds. Nipple flow: Sometimes the nipples start to clog up after repeated use/cleaning and the flow really slows down that's where i would start checking - either replace the nipples altogether, and you may want to go with a faster flow one so she doesn't have to suck as hard, or you can clear out your nipples you have by sticking the tine of a fork down the hole a few times to clear it out.
