What are the cons of exclusively pumping breast milk and feeding baby using bottle versus breast feeding?

What are the cons of exclusively pumping breast milk and feeding baby using bottle versus breast feeding?

Efficency: It's more efficient to breast feed than to pump & then bottle feed. You also avoid any risk of less than perfectly sterile bottles causing the milk to carry an infection. In addition, baby's nursing tends to trigger you to produce more milk than pumping. That said, having breast fed both my kids, pumping when i was away & nursing when i was with baby was a very effective compromise. ...Read more

Can breast milk make my baby fussy?

Can breast milk make my baby fussy?

No: Breast milk is warm and tastes yummy to a baby. So, breast milk should not make a baby fussy. If a baby drinking from the breast seems fussy, but drinking formula seems fine, then the baby might be impatient (try feeding breast milk from a bottle to see what happens). On the other hand, a young baby might fuss on the breast when the let-down occurs because the milk is coming too fast! ...Read more

What is the harm in feeding my baby breast milk and one formula milk at night?

Mixed feedings: I congratulate you on choosing to breastfeed your baby. There is no harm in your plan to give baby one formula feeding at night. Dad can feed him and bond with him too. Formula feeding will come in handy when the time comes that you cannot breastfeed e.g., taking off for several hours and more importantly, in the presence of infection or having to take medication that might harm the baby. ...Read more

Can we use isomil milk formula in infants with milk allergic parents?

Makes no sense: Feeding an infant soy formula just because his/her parent (s) has milk protein allergy is senseless. If infant develops symptoms and signs of milk allergy, formula made of protein hydrolysate, i.e., alimentum or neutramigen, is generally recommended. ...Read more

I am pumping to feed my baby breast milk but also using formula. (i'm not producing enough). Should I do breast milk only and formula only bottles?

I would: I don't have science behind this, but i don't know if mixing breast milk and formula will break down the good proteins in either liquid. I'm probably being overly cautious with this recommendation. So, if it was my baby, i wouldn't mix. Hope that helps! ...Read more

Will breast feeding mother consuming iron and calcium tablets go to the infant through feeding?

Not exactly: Breastmilk is notoriously low in iron, even if you take supplements. Similarly, although breastmilk is usually hight in calcium, the concentration of calcium in breastmilk is not really related to your calcium consumption. A nursing mother should have adequate intake of these nutrients to maintain her own stores, not to affect the milk's composition. ...Read more
