Most sink: Most will sink, but in specific diseases or type of food eaten they will float based on their density, amount of fat and gas. Malabsorbtion syndromes may result in partially digested food with some of the stool sinking and some floating.

Who do some feces sink and some float?

Who do some feces sink and some float?

Gas usually, occ. Fa: Floating stool is usually due to gas; occasionally poor absorption of fat leads to fatty, greasy, pale, foul-smelling, yellowish, floating stools; not normal. Fatty stools seen with pancreatic deficiency, some bowel problems, e.g. Celiac disease, ileal disease from crohn's, etc.

If my feces used to float, but now tend to sink in the toilet, what does that mean?

Your diet: It all depends on what you are eating. If you are eating foods with lots of fiber (which is a good thing!), you feces will be more dense & sink. Floating stools can be caused by dietary fat or by an increase in gas from the normal bacteria that are in your gut. If you are not absorbing your food properly, the bacteria try to digest it & produce gas. See doc if not better for evaluation.

Is it a "good" thing if my feces sink in the toilet all the time? I used to think floating = well hydrated; just want to make sure I understand fully.

Normal: Most stool that floats is because of air, rather than fat. It is normal for stool to sink. Stool that floats and is pale, frothy, bulky, foul-smelling, greasy, oily, sticky is not normal: excess fat.

What does it mean when some pieces of stool float and don't sink quickly?

What does it mean when some pieces of stool float and don't sink quickly?

Usually nothing: You'd get the idea from reading that floating stools mean malabsorption. If you actually have that, you'd know you're sick. Usually they float because of air bubbles -- and this just happens, or is from gum chewing or talking a lot or your particular mix of diet and bacteria or whatever.

Would floating stool caused by fat sink after a few minutes? Worried its fat not gas. Had stool tests including fecal fat test but not 72hr one normal

Would floating stool caused by fat sink after a few minutes? Worried its fat not gas. Had stool tests including fecal fat test but not 72hr one normal

Floater or Sinker: The sinkability of stool depends on the amount of air/gas, not the amount of fat, although vary fatty stools will tend to float. Are you having any symptoms? What was the reason you had test to begin with? Of course, celiac disease needs to be ruled out, but dietary changes which affect the population of gas forming bacteria in the gut can also be in play. Your md will sort it out.

What are the health risks of geese feces? What are the danger of playing in geese feces infested area?

What are the health risks of geese feces? What are the danger of playing in geese feces infested area?

Like: Like other animals, feces from geese contain high levels of bacteria. Some of the bacteria commonly living in bird feces are harmful to humans. These include strains of e. Coli, salmonella, campylobacter, and listeria. Avian influenza could also be spread through this route, but this has not been observed on a large scale to date. Infections contracted from geese typically cause severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Severe cases can lead to intestinal bleeding, kidney failure, septic shock, and death. Flocks of geese can leave impressive amounts of feces in the ponds and lakes they frequent, and lead to high bacterial levels in the water. Splashing, wading, swimming, or drinking contaminated water can lead to infections. It is wise to avoid playing in areas with large numbers of geese or their feces.

Can prolonged exposure to dog feces and urine that has been soaked into the floor cause health problems?

Bright red string like thing floating in my feces. Okay. So I just did the number #2 and in my feces I noticed a bright red string like thing floating in it can this possibly mean anything? When I wiped there was a lil just a lil blood bright red but I

I: I can’t tell you for sure what the bright red string-like material in your stool is. First question, are you sure if is from your bowel movement or did bloody mucus from your period land on your bowel movement after it hit the toilet? Second, what have you been eating? Have you eaten/ drank blueberries, beets, red wine or anything with red coloring like koolaid or jello? Have you had diarrhea (which can have some mixed in blood) or have you been constipated (requiring you to push forcefully with potential for bleeding)? Have you experienced abdominal pain? The red might be due to something you ingested or it might be blood in your feces. Sometimes blood comes from hemorrhoids. If this red is caused by blood then it is probably due to bleeding lower in your gastrointestinal tract. If you were feeling sick, it could be due to a variety of conditions like ulcerative colitis crohns disease, gastroenteritis, food poisoning, or a fissure just to mention a few. The string like appearance might be due to some mucus in your stool. Some times undigested vegetable matter (ie. Celery) can look string like. Eating some foods can turn your poop red. It doesn’t sound like there is any certainty about whether the red came from your period or from your feces. Go over the list above to see if any of those things might be the reason. If you are really uncertain whether the red material was menstrual or fecal; check the next time you have a bowel movement. If you have symptoms that suggest you are ill, if you have continued red matter in your stool, or if you are worried, contact your doctor. Stay well.

Why would I have gotten a web of floaters over a few days? I went to 2 ODs and they both said my eyes were fine and looked really healthy.

Why would I have gotten a web of floaters over a few days? I went to 2 ODs and they both said my eyes were fine and looked really healthy.

Might be OK but.: Your best bet for something like this is to see and ophthalmologist - the real eye doctors. ODs largely are interested in selling contacts and glasses and cannot give the final word on something like this. On the other hand, you are only 16 and serious issues with webs and floaters are very uncommon at your age. Nonetheless, see and ophthalmologist for this.

Are there bacterias & viruses in human feces of a healthy person? Is washing the anus with jet water enough in removing it? Is soap needed?

Are there bacterias & viruses in human feces of a healthy person? Is washing the anus with jet water enough in removing it? Is soap needed?

Symbiotic relation: Bacteria are present throughout the huma skin, respiratory mucosa and intestinal tract. Majority of disease serve a positive purpose and getting rid of them for no reason will result in harm. Viruses can also be seen but not considered part of the normal flora. Can use get water and soap for added hygiene but do not do it because your want to get rid of the impossible.

Lately I have had white spots in my feces. The feces is a healthy brown, but is dotted all overin white spots. It began when I started to eat raw peanuts?

Lately I have had white spots in my feces. The feces is a healthy brown, but is dotted all overin white spots. It began when I started to eat raw peanuts?

OK: Sounds like you answered your own question here. I suspect the raw peanuts are not being fully digested and that is what is in your stool. Try stopping the raw peanuts in your diet, and see if the problem goes away. If not, then get checked. Best wishes.

Do floaters (in vision) pose a a health risk or sight-loss risk? My family has a history of macular degeneration, I am 20, and especially in bright conditions I notice frequent floaters in my field of vision

Do floaters (in vision) pose a a health risk or sight-loss risk? My family has a history of macular degeneration, I am 20, and especially in bright conditions I notice frequent floaters in my field of vision

Floaters: Floaters are a common occurrence and generally do not pose much risk. However, anyone who develops new onset of floaters or if the floaters worsen, must have a full dilated exam by an ophthalmologist. Given your age, the likelihood of retinal pathology is low, but if you are concerned, schedule an appointment with your doctor.

I have floaters in my eyes. The optometrist was unable to find them. Should I be concerned about the long-term health of my eyes?

Floaters: Although the classic definition of floaters refers to small fragments of vitreous within the eye, some visual phenomena can occur which resemble floaters-- an example of this would be migraine with aura or an ocular migraine.
