Fecal Matter Constipation
Yes: By definition, constipation is difficulty or inability to have a bowel movement. A fecal impaction preventing movement of fecal matter through the colon would definitely qualify. However, you can still be constipated without a fecal impaction. A fecal impaction requires urgent medical care, as you risk perforating the bowel with the increased pressure and space occupation. ...Read more
Yes: The longer you go without a bowel movement or complete evacuation then higher risk that stool will remain in the rectum long enough to get more dessicated (dried out from water being removed while in rectum), harder (more difficult to pass without straining &/or pain) and larger (large enough to get stuck or impacted). At some point pain usually occurs & the stool becomes more difficult to pass ...Read more
The cause: Fecal impaction is a relatively common cause of constipation. Generally is a result of dehydration and low fiber and sometimes exacerbated when defecation is avoided for a period of time. Manual disimpaction with a lubricated gloved finger may be necessary. Notably, this can cause diarrhea as well if liquified fecal matter oozes around the impaction. ...Read more
Can mild constipation (going 3x per wk) cause fecal odor that's bad in public/when stressed but better at rest? Other cause? Have veg & water in diet.
Possibly: Try eating unpasteurized yogurt three times a day or taking a probiotic and adding some otc fiber additive to take daily. This will bulk up the stool, and change the nature of bacteria in gut which will alter the odor. If this does not work see a GI doctor. If the constipation is of recent onset, get checked for thyroid function. ...Read more
Chronic constipation no obstruction or any disease, just an extremely boated and distended stomach. Howcan I clear out all the built up fecal matter?
Several options..: Patients with chronic constipation should understand they have a very efficient colon in reabsorbing water and holding on to residue. To have more regular bowel movements will mean providing the colon with daily help (supplement) - a fiber product (metamucil, prunes), stool softener (doss), or osmotic laxative (glycolax, mom). But not a stimulant laxative such as dulcolax or senna herbal products. ...Read more

More fibers in food.: There is nothing like fecal vomiting. It does not happen. You must be vomiting partially digested food that itself can be smelly.
