"All ceramic" type tooth crowns seem to be a good replacement for porcelin fused to high nobel metal crowns. Are they cheaper for the patient?
Not necessarily: The only difference between the two is the cost of the metal, which is a small fraction of the total fee. Ask your restorative dentist what their fee would be for the different crowns and you will have your answer. All other overhead costs of making the two crowns are the same. ...Read more
Excellent question: And yes is my answer. Also consider compomers (like dyract). Strength of material issues come into play with large load bearing restorations, so "keep em small" or consider different materials. With caries in a three year old the glass ion is an excellent choice and the causes of decay need to be addressed. Hope this helps! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How to deal with dental phobia in teens.
17 year old girl who fights and screams at the dental office.
Cannot afford sedation?
I was given an option to sekect between a stainless steel crown or a porcelain based metal crown for the wisdon tooth. Pls advice.
Porcelain metal: Stainless steel crowns are not custom made so the fit is not ideal for long term. In the us, they eould only be done in badly broken down bany teeth. A porcelain fused to metal crown is a long term restoration. I would just question whether or not you want to invest in saving a wisdom tooth. It is completely your choice, but make sure the pros and cons of keeping it are explained to you. ...Read more
Not the shower type: It isn't necessarily the shower type that matters rather the type of room that you are in. Most bathrooms are an inside room and the center of the home is typically the safest place to be. Granted, a more stable shower can also provide a lot of support, the type of tub should not keep you from seeking shelter. ...Read more

Feedback or cons/ bros on using all solid zirconium to support the length/span of 4 unit bridge covering teeth 11to14. Prevosiue porc bridge broken?
Very strong: An all zirconium bridge contains no metal and is very strong. Another bridge option is a porcelain over metal bridge, which you may already have that has broken. Other options for replacing missing teeth would be implant(s) to replace the missing teeth or a partial denture. However, we are big proponents for all-zirconium bridges that are more biocompatible with the tissue than metal based bridges ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Went from caring for child to caring for mom. Is there no empty nest for sandwich generation? What resources can boomers use to keep plates spinning?
Juggling Lessons: I am a fellow boomer sandwich generation member with a teen son with special needs + parents in their 80s. Very important to learn self care whether from online support for caregivers, alanon, codependency anonymous or your faith community. I have learned to spin fewer plates at a time and not get upset if one or two fall and break. Flexibility, a sense of humor and the ability to say no helps! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Not unusual: If twelve baby teeth, then also would have twelve permanent teeth. New carseat rec are rear-facing longer. My kids seats can rear-face til 45lbs- my kids weigh 36 but are 6&4. What is reasonable for micro-preemies?
Question unclear: If your 6 & 4 yo were micro-premies , it never hurts them to be rear facing if the seat is so designed. Protection from the forward head snap & spinal cord stretch is the primary reason for this recommendation. You can see an interesting video at www.Joelsjourney.Com reflecting the neck injury of a 35 lb boy who was forward facing. If you have new micro-premies, a car bed may be in order. ...Read more
