Struggling to get a diagnosis for the gradual loss of hand function from time to time. Fatigue, weakness in hands, joints feel swollen, little bumps t?

Not enough info: Sounds like something you need to have evaluated by an internal medicine specialist...A good diagnostician. You need to have a good history and physical exam and labs, and possibly a neurological w/u if no clear diagnosis is discovered. ...Read more

Rt side of body from head to toe is slightly skinnier but emg rules out muscle atrophy. I feel slight diff in walk and use of arm. What can cause this?

Hemibody difference: It depends if you have any sensory symptoms. If there are no sensory symptoms and EMG is normal, then this might not be a problem. Muscle atrophy usually is determined by measurements like circumferential measurements of limbs or measurements from MRI images. Emg determines peripheral nerve or muscle issues. Muscles can hypertrophy with use. Muscle atrophy can occur with lack of use like bed rest. ...Read more

Are there muscles surrounding the hip joint? I have a bad hip & feel the need to stretch muscles (it feels like.) I'm unable to do so b/c of injury.

Are there muscles surrounding the hip joint? I have a bad hip & feel the need to stretch muscles (it feels like.) I'm unable to do so b/c of injury.

Be careful of hip jt: What people call the hip frequently is not. If you are talking at the side of your pelvis this is not the true hip. This may be the area of the greater trochanter. You should see your ortho doc and then may well get some physiotherapy that you can use as needed to ease the discomfort. The doc should tell you exactly what is wrong ...Read more

Can pinched nerve make you loose weight, since pinched nerve cause muscle weakness. And I know we have muscle in are stomach to digest out food.

If only that simple: Can you imagine the business doctors could have in their offices if all we had to do was cause PINCHED NERVES so that people could lose weight? Oh yeah man...give me that little cervical or lumbar radiculopathy for those flabby 15 lbs. Sorry though...not that simple...pinched nerves can HURT and be painful but they don't trigger or aid in losing weight. ...Read more

What could be cause of decrease in height? Compression of joints, off ssri still on geodon (ziprasidone). Spine feels exposed on surfaces.Workout less and much weak

Unclear: For older patients, decreased height is common due to loss of disc space height, loss of joint cartilage, etc. At your age that would be highly unusual. My first suspicion would be a change in posture causing what appears to be a decrease in height. If you have had an objectively measured loss of height over time, you should see your doctor for evaluation. ...Read more

Do antipsychotic cause muscle damage or rewire them because of muscle tightening and stiffness? I have trouble crossing legs and bending bc lowerback

Do antipsychotic cause muscle damage or rewire them because of muscle tightening and stiffness? I have trouble crossing legs and bending bc lowerback

Not muscle damage: I don't know which antipsychotic you're taking, but all of them at a high enough dose can cause movement problems such as stiffness and tremor, etc. This isn't a muscle problem. Instead it has to do with the balance of neurotransmitters in nervous system pathways affecting movement. Many of these problems can resolve when the med is stopped, but some last much longer. ...Read more
