Fbc Accurate For Dle
Would a Positive ANA Test CBC with a few other clinical criteria
confirm DLE without need for Biopsy?
DLE Criteria: Studies show that up to 28 percent of people with DLE develop Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. If a person has SLE also the American College of Rheumatology and SLIIC criteria can be used to help determine the presence of disease. Studies have tried to validate the SLIIC criteria for DLE alone but DLE sometimes exists in a pathologically singular form. http://tinyurl.com/j6lvnv4 ...Read more

is this a positive blood test for sle?
No: Biopsy is much more useful. A positive ANA test is not diagnostic of DLE and a negative result does not exclude it. ANA needs to be interpreted along with clinical findings and results of other tests. Likely negative: There is typically a "window" of 3-6 months after exposure where you could be HIV positive but test negative. Since you didn't get your testing until well after that, i'd say the confirmatory tests (western blot, ifa) are what you should go by. The elisa is very sensitive and can have false positives- that's why we rely on the confirmatory tests. I would consider your status to be negative. ...Read more

A false (-) result can also occur during primary syphilis since not enough time has passed to allow high enough antibody levels for a (+) reaction to occur. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
