There are some other tumor types (neuromas, etc) that will hurt. But these are much less likely. It is usually that there is pain in the area that makes one feel around and find the unrelated lipoma. Lipoma can be removed but likely the pain will persist. ...Read more

Lipomas: Can be painful and tender sometimes. If symptoms appear, or it enlarges to more than 10 cm, you should have removal. And how do you know for sure it is a lipoma? It could be something else, any benign tumor can mimic lipoma. ...Read more

Ultrasound perhaps.: A lipoma is a benign fatty tumor that can occur anywhere on the body. No probably not: As far as I know, lipomas do not come from exercise. They are benign fatty tumors. You probably just noticed it because you were playing tennis and it started irritating you. If your doctor thinks its a lipoma you should consider having it removed so it doesn't continue to grow and cause discomfort. ...Read more

Unlikely: Lipoma's are usually subcutaneous or in some cases intramuscular. However it would be very unlikely that an isolated lipoma on your back would be causing you these other symptoms. It's best to check it out with your primary. ...Read more

Benign: This sounds like a benign growth if it's quite moveable and has not changed in size or appearance over a long period of observation. However it's best to have your physician examine this lump to be certain. He/she will let you know if a followup exam in the future is advisable. ...Read more
