Fatigued To Fantastic Adrenal Stress End
Can adrenal really get stressed out? Nowadays i read a lot about adrenal fatigue..not sure whether to believe or not. Any opinions?
Adrenal fatigue: 29F asks can adrenals really get stressed out? I am not aware of any studies in peer reviewed journals that suggest that in humans stress will lead to "adrenal fatigue". Adrenal fatigue seems to be a common label used when fatigue cannot be explained. You need to see a good Internist first to find the cause of your symptoms. Avoid web sites for adrenal fatigue. I recommend uptodate.com only. ...Read more
Stress affects most people in some way. Acute (sudden, short-term) stress leads to rapid changes throughout the body. Almost all body systems (the heart and blood vessels, immune system, lungs, digestive system, sensory organs, and brain) gear up to meet perceived danger. These stress responses could prove beneficial in a critical, life-or-death situation. Over time, however, repeated stressful situations put a strain on the body that may contribute to physical and psychological problems. Chronic (long-term) stress can have real health consequences and should be addressed like any other health concern. Fortunately, research is showing that lifestyle changes and stress-reduction techniques can help people learn ...Read more

How can you fix moderate adrenal fatigue? Gaining weight still, ruled out everything else. This fits after a year of severe stress. Is it fixable?
Adrenal fatigue: I doubt you have "adrenal fatigue". Either the adrenals work, or they don't. If they don't, you have addison's disease and you are very sick. However, stress can be very debilitating. The symptoms from stress cannot be fixed by concoctions of vitamins, hormones, etc. Suggest you see a good general doctor (family med, internist) who can evaluate your condition and counsel you on nutrition as well. ...Read more
Can u fix moderate adrenal fatigue? Gaining too much weight, tests rule out everything else, was under severe stress for over a year. Is it fixable?
It depends: To address this question, you would want to see an integrative medicine or naturopathic physician -- making sure your condition is not full adrenal insufficiency, for instance. They would do a workup of you and your labs, to determine the best ways to help you. Some people may respond well to herbal supports for the adrenals. Others may need additional treatments. ...Read more
What causes adrenal fatigue? Is it when the body has had too many anxiety attacks and stress over time?
Not a medical problm: "Adrenal fatigue" is a non medical term used by holistic doctors to describe a set of common symptoms that many people have who are depressed, anxious, stressed, etc. People who are told of having this usually do not have any problem with their adrenal gland function, despite whatever non approved tests are done (typically a cortisol saliva test) that is described as "abnormal" ...Read more
Can childhood asthma come back from prolonged stress? Is adrenal fatigue possible? How to strengthen adrenals?
Yes. No. GoodHabits?: Childhood asthma can come back, but if one is no longer a child, then it is just called asthma. The other way of looking at it is: the childhood asthma never completely left. Asthma symptoms come and go, so it's not surprising to come back. Adrenal Fatigue is a name some people use to describe some types of symptoms, but is not a real disorder. The symptoms are real, the "disorder" is not real. ...Read more

Underperformance: This is not a medical term. I think you are probably talking about adrenal insufficiency. Reasons include severe life-threatening stress, hemorrhage into the glands, withdrawal from taking other steroids, or tumor infiltration. Fortunately the adrenal hormones can be replaced. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Not a disease: "Adrenal fatigue" is not a true medical disorder. It is a "diagnosis" made by alternative doctors for people with nonspecific symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, dizziness, difficulty concentrating. Salivary cortisol levels are typically done, but the results have no medically validity. "Adrenal insufficiency" is a rare medical disorder that should only be diagnosed by an endocrinologist ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
