I was on ppi for GERD and recently diagnosed with austiopenia? Is famotidine is better choice for me or should I continue ppi? Is famotidine safe?

I was on ppi for GERD and recently diagnosed with austiopenia? Is famotidine is better choice for me or should I continue ppi? Is famotidine safe?

Mostly yes...: Head to head - ppi has a more profound effect on your gastric ph and prolonged and/ or higher doses are associated with poor bone health and other issues. Long term acid suppression should be avoided if possible. Dietary and behavior changes can improve gerd for most with medication used for break thru sx. Bottom line - you need to discuss your situation with a doc to be safe. ...Read more

Is there any side effect of pepcide (famotidine) for 5 week old? My concern is on long run and stomach acids impact of the dose (if any)?

Is there any side effect of pepcide (famotidine) for 5 week old? My concern is on long run and stomach acids impact of the dose (if any)?

Probably not: Not clear what you would be treating a 5 week old with Pepcid (famotidine) for without a physician's input? In any case if you give a low 5 -10 mg dose maybe some sedation would be expected but I don't think that I would use Pepcid (famotidine) for long though. See your doctor this might be an intolerance to formula or even breast milk sometimes. ...Read more

Can u take famotidine with concerta are u allowed to mix them together

Concerta and pepcid (famotidine): Concerta is methylphenidate -a stimulant used typically for ADHD. That drug is similar to 'speed' and could have side effects like nervousness, high blood pressure, and even some GI effects. Pepcid (famotidine) is an over-the-counter antacid that generally won't have major drug interactions with Concerta. If you can separate the taking of each med in time that is probably better in case of absorption issues ...Read more
