If your nail is loose and coming off sometimes it is better to have it partially removed. You have to be careful that you do not do any more damage to it by catching it on your socks tearing it further.
Check with your podiatrist and make sure there is nothing else going on under the nail which caused it to come loose in the first place. ...Read more
If the nail is not c: If the nail is not completely detached put a bandage or tape over the nail to keep it from ripping off. Eventually the nail plate will loosen and detach without trauma. If painful or bleeding or redness see your podiatrist for immediate care. ...Read more
Trim it short: If you can't do this or self see a podiatrist who may just take the nail off for you. ...Read more
My big toenails are falling off and new ones are trying to grow back. It is not due to a fungus and I have had no trauma or surgery. What's up?
Micro trauma: Repeated low grade irritation can cause the condition. You may need to have your shoe size measured to assure a proper fit. ...Read more
Likely yes: Might be wise to treat that nail with at bare minimum a topical antifungal agent. I do feel oral meds are much more effective than topicals. Leaving the toe alone will not help improve your condition, so if it bothers you have it treated. ...Read more
My toenail is falling off from a trama a few months ago but there is a new one about halfway grown behind/underneath it. Is it safe to paint it?
You Decide...: I'm not sure just what you mean by safe, but, I can offer you this. Recently traumatized nails are more susceptible to developing fungal infections. Applying nail polish, and the subsequent use of polish removers, may put your new toenail at an increased risk of developing a nail fungus and all the issues of the involved treatment. Go figure. ...Read more

I would recommend: Taking metanx a prescription vitamin to try and counter the side effect of numbness caused by the xeloda (capecitabine). Hopefully, when you stop taking the medication they will regrow normally. ...Read more

Quit Sloughing off.: Skin sloughing, particularly after a period of immobilization and departure from one's daily bathing routine, is almost a given when the immobilization and swelling end.
