Bullying happens in school, the work place, home, kids etc.. Is there a mental health diagnosis for why people bully others?

Bullying happens in school, the work place, home, kids etc.. Is there a mental health diagnosis for why people bully others?

Nonspecific: Bullying can be a final common pathway of behavior for a wide variety of reasons. There is no specific psychiatric diagnosis that matches bullying. Certainly things in such a person's history -- like being mistreated or abused at home -- may be a factor. But it's not an excuse, and bullying must be stopped. If the bully has been through trauma, s/he needs help as well as firm limit-setting. ...Read more

Do live-in mental institutions help children who are mental retarded more than living at home and going to public school?

Do live-in mental institutions help children who are mental retarded more than living at home and going to public school?

Nearly all gone: Separate institutions for mentally retarded (or seriously mentally ill) individuals have nearly vanished in the U.S. Those with mr have quite different needs, depending on the severity of delay. People with mild delays live at home as children and may live indpendently as adults. Adults with severe mr typically live in group homes. M indian. If childhood obesity is becoming common everywhere, parents, teachers must take initiative & ensure children are getting enough exercise right?

Good thoughts: Obesity is a function of ingestion, frequently of fast food and sugary drinks, and lack of activity. The modern lifestyle encourages these types of misbehavior. Children used to be rushed out of doors and would actively play - now they commonly get electronics and play indoors with video games and activities. Rushed parents take the easy route with preprepared food commonly unhealthy. ...Read more

At 60 are women more likely to work out for prevention of osteo, self defense, aesthetics, fitness?

At 60 are women more likely to work out for prevention of osteo, self defense, aesthetics, fitness?

Great question!: It's been my experience that women who work out regularly at 60 are generally the kind of people that like being the best they can be in all kinds of ways. Presenting the best version of you to the world means more than either of the things you mentioned. Beautiful people are healthy people and vice versa. In my practice we are committed our mantra that health and beauty are one in the same. ...Read more

Which jobs suitable for someone narcissistic , introverted , low esteemed , social anxiety one ? Or its better to keep home - no treatment is vital

Job could help: While treatment may not be vital, it could certainly help given your description. So could working since it will direct attention toward doing something useful. This will likely increase self esteem and help overcome social anxiety. Staying at home is a setting which is likely to increase the negative feelings which you imply. Your first step may be to speak with someone about your concerns. ...Read more

Is a criminal who suffers from a mental illness or personality disorder really at fault for the crime(s) they commit?

It depends: This isn't exactly a medical question, it's more of a legal or moral one. But laws in the us generally hold that if a person cannot tell right from wrong due to a mental illness, then they are "not guilty by reason of insanity" (or similar language depending on the state). Most mental illness is not severe enough to meet this standard, and the "insanity defense" is actually used fairly rarely. ...Read more
