Pregnancy method?: If the pregnancy was performed by IVF or Intrauterine insemination then it is usually clear cut as to the pregnancy status if the MD is doing the testing. If the "chemical pregnancy" was diagnosed without testing, that would be my first question as to whether there really was a "pregnancy". ...Read more
Contaminant?: There may be something that is causing a comtamination of the result. Hcg is a hormone, but it can have cross reactivity with other hormones in the blood in some instances. Last month my wife took anti pregnancy peel which effect dis month cycle only few drops...Is it requires doc attention.?
No: The pill to prevent pregnancy is actually a hormone pill so it is not uncommon for it to disrupt the menstral cycle, however, this does not mean that it worked. She may still be pregnant so I recommend getting a pregnancy test immediately as many women "spot" while they are pregnant. ...Read more

Wait to test: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. ...Read more
My mongolian doc says it is safe to do accupuncture and take mongolian herbs as medicine while pregnancy. I am not sure abt herbs. Is it true?
My wife is in 40th week of pregnancy. Scanning reports are normal. Doctors have prescribed magnesium sulphate injection. Why is that prescribed?
Unusual: Magnesium sulfate is often used to treat preterm labor (@40 wks, that's not it...). We also use it for seizure prophylaxis (prevention) if diagnosis is preeclampsia (pih, toxemia). It's given via an IV unless there is no IV access in emergencies & the dose is 8-10 grams im (rarely done). Ask your OB what the indication is & like all docs, they should explain any med or treatment you are receiving. ...Read more
Pregnant with 2nd, however this pregnancy is very hard. My BP is 154/93 avg but my doc is not concerned, I am only 24 weeks, should I be concerned?
Watch closely: That's not a great bp, true, but if you have no other pih or pre-eclamptic signs / symptoms, than treating the #s may be doing just that. Keep in mind that your BP rises some whenever you exert yourself / etc., so with a goal in mind (only 16 weeks to go), it may be one less potential exposure for the baby. If protein in urine or it climbs, then will need attention. ...Read more
I went to two different doctors for pregnancy and was told two different due dates july12 and july17 is it possible to have conceived in september?
Very unlikely: Normal pregnancy is 40 weeks so count backwards that amount of time or use any of various online calculators. For instance, http://www. Baby2see. Com/conception_calculator. Html says date of conception somewhere btwn 15th & 28th of october, so it's very unlikely that you conceived in september. Btw, due date of july 12th & 17th, is essentially identical, assuming based on early ultrasound or lmp. ...Read more
Will a doc take me seriously if I go in because of 3 chemical pregnancies only determined by at home test? Will I just be told to stop testing early?
Pregnancy Test: I am confident that most physicians take their patients seriously when they state that they tested positive on a home pregnancy test. The physician will still verify and perform other tests, including an ultrasound to determine the status of the pregnancy. A blood test (bhcg) may be necessary. ...Read more
