Can pernicious anemia or severe vitamin B12 deficiency cause chronic non-specific duodenitis??

Can pernicious anemia or severe vitamin B12 deficiency cause chronic non-specific duodenitis??

Not clear: No clear evidence for the causal-effect relationship between the two. PA is an autoimmue-mediated destruction of parietal cells in stomach, resuling in impairmnent of B12 absorption. Certainly it is possible that pernicious anemia may co-exist or exacerbate duodenitis via immune process or loss of balance in duodenal fluid, or anemia. But the causal-effect relationship is not well established. ...Read more

12 years post op rny, iron 20 & vitamin d at 10. Seeing a new dr that hasn't worked with deficient gastric bypass, is 325ferrous 3x and 2000d 1x okay?

Nutrition!: A gastric bypass is a very complex nutrition situation. If your physician has not dealt with it much i would suggest asking for a referral to a nutritionist or a bariatric center. That being said, the dosage of iron is fda approved treatment for iron deficiency, and the vitamin d is a reasonable amount. You have many nutrient levels that should be monitored and carefully watched! ...Read more

Does folic acid deficiency cause irreversible nervous system damage?

Does folic acid deficiency cause irreversible nervous system damage?

Not usually, but : Do you really have Folic Acid deficiency? If so, you could have elevation of homocysteine, which could be a risk of heart attack and/or stroke. If this is the case, have your doc check for an mthfr (tt or ct allele genetic condition), as this could be quite a problem if not addressed. The tt is relatively uncommon, but must be treated. ...Read more

43 y/o s/p hyst x 10 yrs. ovaries intact. Severe nighttime sweating. Estrogen level per lab was 904. ???

FSH & TSH levels?: Estrogen levels can be very misleading as estrogen is made in the ovaries, peripheral fat and adrenal glands and unless broken down into its' components of origin can miss the menopause picture. An FSH level can at least give your MD an idea that the ovaries may no longer be responding to produce estrogen in amounts that keep the "hot flashes" at bay. Also make sure your TSH(thyroid) is normal. ...Read more

Can long intake of glutathione IV affect cbc? Can it cause blood cancer or leukemia ?

Can long intake of glutathione IV affect cbc? Can it cause blood cancer or leukemia ?

In a good way; no: Glutathione is unlikely to have any affect on the red cell count but may improve one's white cell count if it is abnormal as it supports immune function. As a substance that boosts immunity and supports detoxification it is likely to reduce risk of all cancers; there is no evidence that glutathione can cause any type of cancer. I had borderline high C-peptide 1.9 ml (lab norm: 0.7-1.9).I stopped taking carbohydrates and in 2 months result was 1.06.Problem or risk of diabetes?

I had borderline high C-peptide 1.9 ml (lab norm: 0.7-1.9).I stopped taking carbohydrates and in 2 months result was 1.06.Problem or risk of diabetes?

Other risk factors: Per your medicine list, you take dexamethasone. Steroids can impact your blood glucose levels, increasing your risk of diabetes. I think the change in your diet was a good thing, and seeing the commensurate decrease in your C-peptide level is promising. If you stay on a lower carb diet, your risk of diabetes will remain low. ...Read more

High blood pressure 160 /100 my age 29 y.Test show hi level of triglycerides , hi level (ldl) low level( hdl) been a year on healthy diet lose 10 kg?

Keep going : The current weight is not provided, but if not at ideal body weight, further weight will likely help. Weight and diet are two pieces of the puzzle. Environmental factors and genetics predisposition are others. Blood pressure of 160/100 is hi for a 29 year old and most would start blood pressure medications at this point. Great job on the < 20 pounds weight loss. ...Read more
