Doctor insights on:
Scientific Rx: Glad you're seeking treatment. If a few weeks on over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide isn't a great success, your physician may add a topical antibiotic such as clindamycin. If your acne is only on your face, you're less likely to need to move onto a systemic antibiotic such as tetracycline 500 mg 2x/day, but perhaps this is in your future. Dermatologists have the big guns. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Pimples Black Heads: Whatever you do, do not pick on them. The very best therapy is to check with your doctor. Your doc has a plethora of excellent medicines that are very effective to prevent and cure pimples and black heads (dark spots). Avoiding food, or eating certain foods, applying over the counter potions, lotions, or liniments, are not effective treatments. ...Read more
21st century Rx: You deserve to be free of acne if that is your wish. I start with topical Clindamycin plus either benzoyl peroxide if there are few blackheads or a retinoic acid derivative if there are many. The oral contraceptive pill can clear up acne if a woman can and want to use it. Failing, a systemic antibiotic right for the person usually works, and dermatologists have the big guns today. ...Read more

No ice: Try Benzoyl Peroxide wash sold over the counter. There are also devices sold at drug stores to remove blackheads safely with minimal trauma to the skin. Generally best to not overly scrub or pick at them as this produces scars. Unfortunately, this is part of the changing hormones of the teen years, but it gets better with time. ...Read more

Doctors, please advice me a suitable cream or ointment, which can cure me from my face pimples....
Benzoyl peroxide: I see you have already begun rx. Topical benzoyl peroxide & topical Clindamycin are a good start, but many men need to add a systemic antibiotic such as tetracycline 500 2x/day. If it's quite severe, a dermatologist may offer you accutane; it's not pleasant & has some risks but it is very much worth it if simple rx fails. Good luck. ...Read more

All of a sudden all over my face pimples start to grow with redness and getting severe, why and what's the remedy?I wash with fresh skin months back :'(
Manage it: I'm going to assume this is acne and not folliculitis involving your beard. Don't ask "why". Acne is a chronic, non-hygiene-related, non-lifestyle-related disease that cannot be cured but can be managed until it remits on its own. If topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you in two weeks, get with your personal physician. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I'm using tetracycline 250 for get rid of face pimples, how long do I have to take this medicine to get best results?
Here's the key: Don't ever use an antibiotic alone to manage acne. You also need to be using topical benzoyl peroxide 5% 2x/day or as you can tolerate. Avoid taking tetracycline with milk, antacids or iron. Expect a good result in 4-8 weeks. If it's not satisfactory, or you risk getting scars, consider a course of isotretinoin. It's not for the faint-hearted but it works. ...Read more
