Depends: It depends on the cause of the crustiness and depends on what you mean by eyedrops. Just about everything we use in ophthalmology is eyedrops: antibiotics, allergy med, glaucoma med, steroid, nonsteroidal, etc. If you mean artificial tears, then yes, you could try it, and if the cause was dry eyes, it would help. What drops are they?: For dry eyes? glaucoma? itching? inflammation? This would be helpful to know, as you must have a diagnosis your doctor is working with. Dry eyes: First try preservative-free drops (the ones in a vial) as some folks are sensitive to the preservatives in bottled medications. If it is still bothering you, see an eye doctor! Restasis or punctal plugs might make your life easier! ...Read more

It's ok!: Some eyes are more sensitive than others. Cyclogyl (cyclopentolate) can last 12-48 hours commonly, but longer in some. Please kindly tell you doctor to use shorter acting agent if possible such as tropicamide 0.5%! ...Read more

Dry eyes: Eye burning is most often due to drying of tear film or unstable tear film (unless a chemical or allergen has entered your eye). Discharge is from bacteria.
