7 sec and not 7 min: It's called 'waking up.' Some people experience this, which can can be scary, but it only lasts a few seconds. If you wake up during a certain phase of sleep, this can happen. A few suggestions: Many possibilities. Assuming no changes in vision and not having any additional information, here are some things that it could be (although I can't make a complete list without more info). asthenopia, muscle spasm of orbicularis muscle in eyelid, thyroid eye disease (Graves disease) causing lid lag, myasthenia gravis.
