What is the best way to clean eyeglasses?

Water

Water
Although, you may get bombarded with a number of eyeglass cleaners, in my experience and opinion, there is no better one than water. I use liquid hand soap and tap water to clean my glasses daily and then tap them dry with a flanel cloth. Works like a champ!

Can eyeglasses wearing cause bulging eyes?

No

Bulging_eyes
Eyeglasses are supported on the ears and nose and cannot cause the eyes to bulge forward. Bulgivng eyes can be inherited, due to more extreme myopia, or from some diseases such as hyperthyroid (Graves disease) or a lesion behind the eye which is growing. See your ophthalmologist if you have bulging eyes; it is not your glasses.

Do eyeglasses really cure nearsightedness?

Yes and No

Vision
Eyeglasses can correct or treat nearsightedness but they do not "cure" the condition. It depends on how you define "cure." If the definition is best uncorrected vision than only laser refractive surgery or refractive lens exchange can be considered. The glasses simply help to refocus the light. They do not make your nearsightedness worse or better. But you will like your vision better!

Multifocal eyeglasses. Who makes good ones?

Progressive lenses

Eyeglasses
Spectacle lenses are usually referred to as progressive bifocal lenses if they have an variable or increasing power as you look further down into the lens. Contact lenses and lens implants are usually referred to a multifocal. Nevertheless, we have had excellent results with Essilor lenses (Varilux) as progressive lenses.

Do eyeglasses really help bad night vision?

Yes

Optic_neuritis
At night, your pupils dilate. This (along with a few other changes that occur at night) may cause a temporary change in your glasses prescription leading to "night myopia" or slight nearsightedness at night. This makes many people feel as though they have "bad night vision" but really a small glasses prescription to be worn at night particularly while driving can help night vision.

What is the side effects of wearing eyeglasses?

Eyeglasses

Glasses
There are no adverse effects from wearing glasses, as long as they are the correct prescription. People have always thought that their eyes get weaker if they start wearing glasses, but that's an "old wives tale."
