Heat, age, hygiene: It is most likely dried tears and discharge from blepharitis-gets worse when its hotter, poor lid hygiene and aging. 17 mo old w/ severe skeeter syndrome. Bites in the face and eye almost completely swollen shut. Dosed benadryl (diphenhydramine). Best course of action topical and oral?
Oral: Oral benadryl (diphenhydramine) will be best here. For the bites, you can use topical hydrocortisone to help decrease the inflammation (although this will take awhile). Depends on extent of: Bruising, since that is what a black eye is (ecchymosis) present, as the more it swells under the skin area, the faster it will swell. That is why cool/iced compresses may be helpful on the lids to reduce the swelling. (It's really the eyelid and not the eye that is black for clarification.) Keeping the head elevated helps too. Don't lie flat. Body needs time to resorb swollen tissue's fluids back. ...Read more
A bite or particle: Sudden itching and swelling of one eye is almost always caused by contact with an irritant or allergen. Unclear question: What is a makeover? If you are speaking of a session of make-up application (non-surgical intervention), then I would think you are having an allergic reaction to one or more of the substances used in your eye make-over.
