Eye Plugs Tear Ducts
Afraid of rabies, previously vaccinated. Walking outside on bright, sunny day (no rain). Single drop of liquid fell from tree and lands directly in eye/tear-duct. Couldn't identify source of liquid. Possible bat saliva exposure or being paranoid?
Paranoid: The most likely liquid falling from a tree would be water. Did it rain recently? The odds of a bat salivating in a tree on a sunny day is very very rare. Bats like dark places to rest during the day. Also, bats drooling? Also very rare. The saliva from a bat causing rabies comes from a bite, not drool. Also very rare to get rabies through the membranes of the eyes. So, please don't worry.See 1 more doctor answer
I have all 4 of my tear ducts plugged and have been on restasis for 3 months. My last schrimer scores are 10 and 8. Why are my eyes still dry?
Need more evaluation: Anterior surface disorders are complex. It sounds like you need a more expert opinion about what's going on. Make an appointment with a corneal and external disease ophthalmologist.See 1 more doctor answer
No: You probably need surgery to relieve the obstruction. Drops do not help at this stage.See 1 more doctor answer
My 2 month old has clogged tear ducts in both eyes. What can I do to help her? Her eyes are always very crusted after she cries.
Clogged tear ducts: Lacrimal duct massage is a technique that your provider can walk you through. This is common for babies and requires frequent consistent firm pressure from the tear duct along side the nose towards the nasal opening. This may require massage several times a day for several months. Warm compresses can assist in your efforts in addition to the massage. Good luck!See 1 more doctor answer
8yro boy has never cried tears. Eyes are well lubricated and watery at times but has never cried tears even when a baby. No clogged tear ducts either?
I don't see a proble: I am not sure if that's a problem if everything else is normal. As long as his eyesight is ok and his eye structures are functioning well, he may be fine.
Blocked tear duct: Blocked tear ducts can persis for many months. I normally recommend controlling the mild secondary infection with intermittant antibiotic eye drops until 4-6 months of age. I refer the small # who persist beyond that time to a pediatric ophthalmologist for probing of the ducts.See 1 more doctor answer
I was just had a quick question, my eyes itch all the time right by my tear ducts. What can this be? I'm not sure if I have allergies.
3 mth old was born, he had a problem with his tear ducts & put drops in his eye. It got better. His eye just started tear and gook again. Pls advice?
Doctor can check: Babies who have increased tears in the eyes may actually have some blockage in the tear ducts (drainage ducts near the bridge of the nose), so the babies' tears & mucus just stay visible. A pediatric eye doctor can examine the eye to be sure there isn't a problem within the eyeball itself, and plan treatment. There should be no effect on vision, if the teariness is just due to blocked ducts.
Tearing: Tearing of the eyes is a symptom. It has many possible causes. One possible cause is blockage of the drainage system in the eye. This will typically cause constant tearing on one side. See your eye doctor for confirmation and treatment.
On my waterline inside my eye I know we have tear ducts are they white? I have one that's swollen n my other eye it's fine it's tiny
Eye exam: The tear ducts are located on the inside corner of the eyelids (closer to the nose where the eyelashes stop) on the upper and lower lids. The tear ducts are normally not swollen or white. You may have a tear duct infection (canaliculitus). You also have oil glands along the lid margin. These may get clogged and can result in a white swollen appearance or a stye. See your eye doctor for evaluation.
Redness at the corner of the outside of my eyes not at tear ducts. My allergist noticed it yesterday but I blew it off. Now wondering what cause is?
Transient or. ..: If the redness goes away in a few days, I won't be worrying over it. If it is persistent but does not itchy or hurt, I won't lose sleep over it either. Do your eyes tear frequently?
@ 1yr oldsurgery 2open tear ducts I now can hold my nose &blow air comes out eye 1 eye wateron/off & air cant go thru that side eye look nrml scared?
Blocked tear duct: Unless your eye is watery all the time nothing to worry about
I have these little white hard things around my eye lids. Not been an issue till recent now seem to block tear ducts. Is there meds to take or surgery?
Sounds like milia: Milia are these little white pearls that are cysts under the skin. They are not a problem but can be removed by your dermatologist. However, if you are having problems with tearing I would get in to see your ophthalmologist. You many need to place tubes in ducts
My eyes dry out too quickly. Been told its due to blocked tear ducts/glands. What can I do to unblock them?
Dry eyes: Are due to a deficiency or an imbalance of the three components of your tear film. Ocular surface inflammation can also contribute to the symptoms, but this is not related to blocked tear ducts. Dry eyes are often not curable but can be managed well with various types of drops. You should see your ophthalmologist to discuss these treatment options.
What are the disadvantages or risks of plugging the tear ducts for dry eye condition that can't be relieved by eye drops?
Risks: Plugs are relatively safe. However, there is a chance you could feel the plug or that you end up with too much tears. A buried plug may require an even more invasive procedure if that plug ever needed to be removed. Lastly, there is a theory that dry eyes is due to inflammation on the eye surface, and that plugs could hasten the progression of dry eyes by trapping the inflammatory cells.See 2 more doctor answers
Bloodshot eyes with a light tint of yellow. I have a history of blocked tear ducts with 2 surgeries. Could this be reoccuring?
Possibly: This is one of those problems where a visit to your doctor is necessary to figure out what's going on. Only after a thorough evaluation, including examination and possibly labs and other tests, can your doctor correctly diagnose you and treat you effectively.
One of my tear ducts is swollen and white sometimes it hurts if I touch it. Looks like a little bubble. My other eye it's fine, white and small.
Eye exam: This is either a blocked year duct which would result in tearing and/or discharge with possible redness and swelling over the tear duct opening. Or this is a clogged oil gland that would result in an eyelid bump with redness and swelling lateral to the year duct. You should see your eye doctor to evaluate. Warm compresses may help until your appointment.See 1 more doctor answer
Depends on the cause: There are different parts of the eye that many people call "tear ducts" but may not be the actual tear duct. The tear duct, which drains your tears, can get blocked for reasons that are generally not helped by eye drops. A clogged tear duct usually has to be probed or even have surgery to unclog it. If you are referring to the pores that line the lids that can get clogged, abx can help.See 1 more doctor answer
