Swolen eyelid edges, itchy inner corners, eye pain, twichy lids, light sensitivity, hi ocular presure but nothing else found by opthamlogist. What's cause?
Blepharitis: All the symptoms except high eye pressure are caused by blepharitis, inflammation of the eyelid. Your body's natural oil builds up on the edge of your eyelid around the lashes. Normal bacteria eat the built up oil and then secrete a toxin which irritates the eyes and eyelids. Removal of the oil through a special cleaning technique helps. Sometimes antibiotics and flax seed oil are necessary. ...Read more

Blepharitis?: Inflammation of inner lining of eyelids can cause irritation of the eyeball, leading to redness. It can also cause the eyelashes to be redirected toward the eye so that they enter the field of vision. Your symptoms are suggestive of blepharitis. You should ask about this. Make sure you see an ophthalmologist (someone who treats eye disease), not just an optometrist (who just prescribes lenses). ...Read more

Probably a stye: Difficult to say for sure, especially without a photo, but it sounds like a stye. It occurs when one of the oil glands in your eyelid gets clogged and infected. You should apply warm heat to the eyes at least twice a day with gentle massaging downwards to help the blockage open and drain. Antibiotic/steroid combo drops help too but you'll need to see an eye doctor for the prescription. ...Read more

Stye: At your age, this is probably a stye. This is a blocked gland in the substance of the lid which will produce a red swelling on the inside of the lid. If advanced it may swell the whole lid. To treat, use very warm washcloths socked from your water tap (not too hot). For about 5 minutes at a time, 5 times per day for several days. This will usually get rid of it. ...Read more

Common problem: Eyelid twitching (myokymia) is a common and largely unexplained problem. It usually goes away on its own but sometimes this takes 3-4 weeks. Dry eyes are common in middle-aged women and sometimes are aggravated by incomplete lid closure at night. Try a bedtime dose of a gel eye drop like Systane Gel. This should help to keep eyes lubricated until AM. ...Read more
