Sometime I have a sharp one eye pain when I open my eyesin the middle of the night for something. It follows up with wet eyes gets fine in the morning?
In this disease, the basement membrane of the cornea is damaged, usually from a prior trauma that did not heal correctly. In the wee hours of the morning when your eye is moving under closed lids, the epithelium overlying the damaged basement membrane becomes loose and a defect forms, giving you pain and tearing.
