Hip bursitis: It is likely that you have a condition called trochanteric bursitis of your hip--it is inflammation of the area surrounding the curve of the hip-thigh bone. Possibly resulted from excessive use/walking/running and/or laying on the side on a firm/hard surface too long. Do some really good range-of-motion/stretching, and use of motrin/aleve may help. A few possibilities: None of these show up on X-ray: disc or ligament injury, pinched nerve due to disc or vertebral dysfunction, nerve inflammation, muscle spasm, or several other causes of sciatica-type pain in the back & leg.A good history & phys. incl osteopathic hands-on exam may provide some answers.Manipulation can solve several of these causes.MRI may be needed if reflexes/strength are diminished. ...Read more

See your doctor: Call your doctor to let him/her know that you have extreme pain post uti. It may or may not be related, but it has to be documented and treated.
