What is immune system? And how it relates to rashes, itching, sores, hives.....

Control: You may view the immune system as the police commissioner who oversees the city's defense against invaders. When someone causes trouble, you may find multiple and variable responses. We need the immune system to defend against outside invaders (bacteria, virus, worms) and inside traitors (cancer, autoimmune disease). Diseases often occur when the immune system fails. ...Read more

Physical urticaria: Cholinergic urticaria is not allergy. There is direct stimulation of twitchy mast cells when you are sweaty. Antihistamine will help. Zyrtec is best. Generic cetirizine is the same thing for less cost. Standard dose is 1 pill [10mg] a day. Some people take 2 or 3. Even 3 a day is usually well tolerated but a few people will feel drowsy. ...Read more

Could I have scabies? I saw a doc but he wasn't interested but I have a rash. Hives itching blisters etc, I'm taking phernargan for the itching.

Yes: The question of whether you can have scabies is simple...Yes. These infections typically involve 4-6 mites. They can cause amazing rashes. You can do a shaved skin bx for diagnosis or find a burrowing tract. I've been fooled several times by scabies so its not a total no-brain er. Ivermectin oral or Permethrin topcal is used to eradicate it. ...Read more

Itch: Since there's no obvious rash, swelling or redness associated with the itch, some superficial nerves may be irritable causing itch which is a relative of pain. What triggers the itch is mysterious. I would avoid applying cortisone type ointment to sooth the itch as permanent skin changes can result. Ask your pharmacist to recommend a nonsteroid ointment that you can use on your face if needed. ...Read more

It: It sounds like it could be eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, or even a fungal infection. It is hard to say without actually examining you myself. You should follow up with a dermatologist. What's a rash that started with itching in palms and soles of feet, then hives, then red lines everywhere I was touched now itchy welts?

Dermatographism: You are releasing histamine from tissue. The red streaks with touching / scratching the skin = mechanical/pressure release of histamine = "dermatographism". The itchy welts = urticaria which is another type of allergic manifestation. Although it can be challenging sometimes to discover the exact trigger for this type of reaction your doctor can advise effective therapy if allergy persists. ...Read more

Tiny raised bumps on my forehead and neck, little itching. My trunk and back look like a small heat rash typically at night. Is this hives?

Hives: A hive lesion does not last for more than 24 hours. If those raised itchy bumps on your skin move from one place to another within a day, they sound like hives. When you don't have lung or GI symptoms, simple otc antihistamine would help in most cases. If you have hives more than 6 weeks, you need to see a physician to be evaluated for chronic hives or chronic urticaria. ...Read more

Why am I itching all over? Tried blood test from doctors not scabies dry skin no rash or hives tried nonscented items like soaps tried less warm showe

Most common: Cause, often "missed" is SKIN DRYNESS!!!!
This condition is often called "Winter Itch" although it can occur in any season. Heat being turned on in cold weather dries the skin even faster that's why the condition is more prevalent during winter months!
TRY HUMIDIFIER in your bedroom and run it during day so that when you go to bed the room has a good moisture level!
Hope this helps!

For now you can try Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or a non-sedating antihistamine like Cetirizine and if no better see your doctor, there are other medicines that can be used to clear this. Remember to use sunscreen everytime, and apply frequently when outside. ...Read more

Shouldn't: It should've resolved by now, I don't know that the two are related. However, there may be an on going allergic reaction, look to think what new chemicals you have come in contact with, soaps, detergents, shampoos, etc etc. May take 25-50 mg of benadryl (diphenhydramine) if needed, and follow up closely with your doctor. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will make you sleepy. ...Read more
