Possibly : Common causes if hand pain can be neuropathic (cts), arthritic (bones), tendonitis (tendons), or a combination. When you have both cts and cervical issues i recommend treating the easy one first. Cts surgery is easy for the surgeon and the patient. It will yield results that will either resolve your problem or identify that your cervical issues are the predominate cause if your pain. ...Read more

Subluxation of a : Proximal phalanx at the mcl joint may be associated with an inflammatory arthritis or an injury to that joint. Typically the index an middle fingers are affected first in inflamm arthritic findings in the hand vs the little and ring. Mri is sometmes is innacurate or over read as well. Xray time: With the amount of pain and swelling you describe, it sounds to me like you need an xray. Some of your carpal and metacarpal bones, if broken, need to be addressed sooner rather than later to make sure they heal properly. So, you can ice and elevate it now, but i would have it checked out pretty soon. ...Read more

Poss. nerve injury: I see a few patients a month with persistent pain after IV placement. This can be due to a hematoma formation or nerve injury. Recommended treatment is warm compress for the hematoma and contrast compress (hot and cold) for nerve injury. Prescription topical creams and therapy may be helpful.
