Wear 1/2 orthotics and remove insoles of shoes, so big toe that stix up won't hurt. Must wear some cushioning at toes to prevent shocks to knee?
Metatarsal Cushion: Some of our patients need that extra room in their shoes because the big toe sticks up too much. Try a spenco insert for that extra cushion but cut out the area under the toes to give them more room. You can also try to add a hapad metatarsal support to the end of the orthotic device to attempt to take pressure off the metatarsals. www.hapad.com (get small adhesive met pads) dr rich blake. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Big toe nail fungus and blood blister underside of toe. Saw a podiatrist, he clipped the excess toenail and the pain is now under the toe.
Long toe causing pressure.2nd toe is moving on top of big toe. Ortho PA said to ignore unless hammertoe or can't wear shoe. Good advice? Thx
ALREADY HAMMERED?: If it's moving on top of the big toe, it sounds like you already have a hammer toe deformity. As an adult, splinting or taping will not realign it. If a corn develops, a podiatrist can trim it. A wider toe box in your shoe may help. It will PROBABLY continue to progress. Surgery is an option if above doesn't work for you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

At some point in time, spurs need to be removed surgically before more damage is done to the interior of the joint. Quit Sloughing off.: Skin sloughing, particularly after a period of immobilization and departure from one's daily bathing routine, is almost a given when the immobilization and swelling end. Layers of dead skin cells that are normally sloughed during one's daily routine have piled up and are revealed as these skin "sheets". One can only imagine how much skin is shedded daily by your body daily. ...Read more

Chronic : Wearing of flip flops cause instability across the metatarsal (toe joints) and thus would cause the toes to "grip" the ground more during walking. This can lead to hammer toes or "contractures" that over time, will need to be surgically straightened if they become rigid and do not reduce or return to normal straight if you push down on the toe. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
