Have 6 screws and a plate in r foot from lisfranc fusion. Have pain and X-ray shows one screw digging a groove in neighboring bone. What options?
Painful Hardware: If the surgery was over a year ago, and the joint appears to have fused, removal of the hardware would probably be the best option. If it was fairly recent or it never fused (non-union), may need to give it some more time and/or use a bone simulator. If it is a nonunion, sometimes revision is necessary (removal of hardware and replacement with new hardware after preparing fusion site again). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

In Peru poor treatment ext malleolus + prox 3rd metatarsal fracs 6m ago screw in malleolus @4m removed @10wk due to reaction ultra shows mature callus in both but not complete union pain in metatarsal doing slight walking advice for wt bearing etc?
Delayed union: In all likelihood based on your time frame post fracture you have a delayed union of your metatarsal. The fact that you have bone callus demonstrated on X-ray is a good sign as it is attempting to heal. You should be immobilized in a fracture shoe and have serial X-rays taken every 2-3 weeks to assess your progress. If no improvement 10-12 months (non union) and bone stim might be considered. ...Read more
