Expert Opinion On Peer Pressure
Many: Peer pressure can try to influence behaviors (pressure to have another drink, be more sexually active, vote for a certain person) or may try to influence thinking and values. It can be direct with peers verbally making statements that encourage thoughts/behaviors & it can be indirect with peers behaving in a way and rejecting when others do not fall into line. You are responsible: For you no matter what others say and do.. Think about what is right and wrong and decide for yourself what is the right thing to do. Develop inner strength and self-confidence, stand firm, walk away when necessary, resist doing something when you know better. Appropriate worthwhile peers will respect you. The others are not worth your time and likely have ulterior motives. Live strong and well!
You are bit older to: Be asking. I would talk to someone who you trust. Give yourself some time alone to make important decisions or those you trust who have had a history of making decisions in a sound manner. Give more space to those pressuring you and let them know you don't enjoy being told what to do /what is cool and how much you don't measure up. Part of growing up is knowing who you are and being ok with it.
Peerpressure=alcohol: The adolescent substance abuse knowledge base reports 30% teens are offered drugs in middle- high school. According to the national household survey on drug use and health from the U.S. Department of health and human services, 74.3% of high school students have tried alcohol. To combat 'peer-pressure' parents should 'talk to their teenagers', know their friends and stay involved.
Sex and teens: Peer pressure can disrupt a teens normal sexual development if a teen is pressured and gives in to sexual activity before he or she feels comfortable and ready. Sexuality is an important aspect of development and impacts a person's identity, self-worth, self-image, and emotional stability among other areas. It is important to respect your own sexual boundaries as well as others.
Positive peers: If a teen's friends are choosing to make decisions that are healthy, then that teen has a higher chance of making his/her own healthy decisions.
Many: Peer pressure, like any other psychological stress, can make a person uncomfortable, irritable, or distracted. Health problems can result if this pressure leads the person to act in unhealthy or risky ways. Common problems include smoking, irresponsible sex, unsafe driving, drug use, etc. Although resisting peer pressure can be hard, it's often the smartest & healthiest choice.
I am doing a research paper for school, could you give anymore information on how peer pressure can affect a teen's personality?

Interesting question: Kids are always under peer pressure. As kids mature, they become more self assured & independent (usually following ideals instilled by parents) rather than depending on others for validation. College represents a problem in that this is the first place young adults are completely on their own to make good or bad choices. A person is always responsible for their actions high school or college.

Had a blood pressure of 240/110 mass was found n right kidney dr wants to wait and watch. I would like 2nd opinion. This was my 2nd episode in 6 mont?
HTN and kidney mass: 60F from CA had BP 240/110 and mass in R kidney. Was told to watch and wait. Wants second opinion. Need more details but you need to have a renin measured in your blood and a 24 hr urine done at the same time to see if renin is high or low. If very high you need to see a HTN expert to see if the mass is causing the severe HTN. This is what I specialize in. And happy to give detailed second opinion

Is it safe for me to be taking Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine), (lisdexamfetamine)Xanax, And Blood Pressure meds all at once? I only have anxiety and HBP when taking the Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). 2nd opinion?
It depends: Since I don't know your history, it's difficult to say if your medication regimen is appropriate. This shouldn't be considered a second opinion. Personally, I don't prescribe Xanax (alprazolam) because I am able to lower patient's anxiety with alternative treatments. At a minimum, I hope you're discussing your concetns with your physician. Since Vyvanse causes high blood pressure, I have concerns. Good luck..
