Experience Agitation Anxiety Pristiq
It's not "normal": Not in the true sense of the word normal. It certainly can happen with Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and a number of other antidepressants as well. If you did not have severe anxiety and agitation prior to taking Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and it appeared when first taking Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) it is most certainly a side effect of that medication. That requires immediate stopping of that medication. No, it's not normal and it is not common either. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have been taking 5-htp 100mg daily and 25mg pristiq (desvenlafaxine) for 4 weeks and starting to feel agitated, short of breath, tired .and a bit dizzy. ?
More needs to be: known about 5-HTP before recommending its use. There have been recent reports of eosinophilia myalgia syndrome associated with its use or contamination. You can read about this on Web-MD. Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) can also cause a similar set of side effects in a small minority of people. Also starting two serotonergic agents at the same time is not advised. (increased risk of serotonergic syndrome) Ask your doctor. ...Read more

I have bad social anxiety and g.A.D. Is there any medication to prevent chronic blushing? Currently on pristiq(50mg)
Behavioral Path: People struggling w/ social anxiety often get hyperfocused on the physical symptoms they experience in dreaded soc situations. This serves 2 magnifiy the intense discomfort that lies at heart of soc anx, viz, discomfort associated w/ the fear of embarrassing urself. Paradoxically, one way 2 "bust your shame" = If u were 2 make urself blush even harderin social situations & draw attn 2 that fact! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
50mg pristiq (desvenlafaxine) (depression anxiety) seemed to lose effectiveness after 3 months 100 stopped working after another 3 on 150 now will this keep happening?
Consider change: There is no evidence that anything over 100mg has more effectiveness in studies. MDs will try higher dosages as tolerability allows as off label use. I would consider adding a second medication depending on what residual symptoms recur, or try adding deplin. ...Read more

Why does pristiq (desvenlafaxine) diminish affects from my nuvigil? Weaning off of pristiq (desvenlafaxine) made me feel so much better but stims caused physical anxiety. Now back on p
I've been taking Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) for years with results, tried to get off of it twice but anxiety returned. Can Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) be taken as long as needed? For life?
Why is Effexor officially indicated for anxiety, but Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) only used off label for it? Seems strange given their relation.
Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is newer: Effexor and Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) do work in the same way, Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is simply the active metabolite of Effexor. The answer is that Effexor has been out much longer than Pristiq (desvenlafaxine). Drug companies must demonstrate effectiveness for different indications through expensive clinical trials to get FDA approval for that condition. If Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is proven to be effective for anxiety, FDA will approve it for that indication. ...Read more

Hi There, I was just wondering if there are any serious side effects of taking only a few percocets while on pristiq 50mg, and also how dangerous drinking alcohol REALLY is on this anxiety medication. (I am not taking perc's while drinking alcohol though)
Suspicious: Not enough info. How many is "a few?" Should you be drinking alcohol which is a CNS depressant while taking an anti-depressant, Pristiq (desvenlafaxine)? Why are you taking an opioid which is also a CNS depressant? How close if not together re perc's and alcohol? Not enough info! ...Read more

Can i take ephedra for fatigue while also taking pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and lyrca for mdd, irritable, and anxiety? I'm finding myself spending 18 hours a day in bed
Ephedra: Ephedra can be dangerous, raising bp, causing cardiovascular problems. It also can aggravate your anxiety. I would suggest a discussion with md to consider med adjustments and possibly a provigil/nuvigil augmentation for pathological fatigue. Your meds may be a major contributor as well.. Also lab work to rule out thyroid, anemia, metabolic causes of fatigue, sleep study for osa sleep apnea. ...Read more
My babys 3months & breastfed. I've tried the safe meds but don't work for me for depression & anxiety. Can I use pristiq (desvenlafaxine) I've read no & yes w/monitoring?
Should not. : Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is least safe because more of it can get into the breast milk than the other antidepressants. I would try all the other antidepressants first. If you really need pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) you should seriously consider stopping breastfeeding. If you decide to take Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and still breastfeed, you have to understand that there are risks as your baby is getting some Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) which each feed. ...Read more
Can using nuvigil and pristiq (desvenlafaxine) cause serotonin syndrome? I have symptoms after weaning off of pristiq (desvenlafaxine). Could this be anxiety from weaning off?
YES/NO: It is unlikely to get 'serotonin syndrome" from the combination. Coming off Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) can be associated with two things; one is resurfacing of the symptoms that were target of treatment such as anxiety or depression. The other is discontinuation syndrome including nausea, irritability, dizziness, "head zaps' headache among other symptoms. Usually weaning off meds is carried out very slowly. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
