When do doctors begin measuring fundal height? Is it reliable before 20 weeks?

Most caregivers will record their patient's fundal height on every prenatal visit. Measuring the fundal height can be an indicator of proper fetal growth and amniotic fluid development. ...Read more

Is the fundal height supposed to be equal to LMP date? So you could figure two weeks behind as how many weeks you're actually pregnant?

Gestation age measurement by lmp (only help if your period is regular and you know when is your lmp ) will help too, andobviously measurement using an ultrasound is the most accurate. Combination of those 3 will be the best. ...Read more

Yes: Ultrasounds and fundal heights can only "guess" at weights and gestational age unless done serially. once the baby drops into the pelvis generally at 36 weeks gestation the fundal heights are "iffy". ...Read more
