Exercising With Bruised Ribs
Cleared by cardiologist. Throbbing dull pain under left shoulder blade with left arm numbness after eating and workouts. Weight lifting or 2 mile run.
Soreness in back (mid rib cage area). Worse with bending and taking a deep breath. feels irritated. ?
Thoracic spine: muscles on either side of the spine itself can be strained the same way the muscles of the lower (lumbr) spine can be strained/sprained. Likely or possible?: It is likely musculoskeletal (given brief history provided), but your symptoms are fairly nonspecific and could run the gamut from benign to life-threatening. Just theory; see MD: Are you a frequent drinker? Heavy drinker? Binge drink? Eat poorly? Were you immobile for a long time? Pain under the rib cage makes me think either acute alcohol-induced hepatitis, chronic fatty liver or possible PE (pulmonary embolus). Foot swelling is consistent with venous insufficiency, hypoalbuminuria (unhappy liver/malnutrition) & maybe even DVT (deep venous thrombosis; a risk for PE). ...Read more
