Depends: How quickly growth plate fractures heal depends on a number of factors. The most important are probably: which bone is fractured, how severe it is, age and the general health of the child. That being said, children do tend to heal more quickly, and growth plate fractures heal more quickly than other fractures. Growth plates: Growth plates are visible on x-ray if the patient is still developing. Once the growth plates close, they are no longer visible on x-ray and the patient stops growing.
