What is gluteus Maximus enthesopathy? What causes it? What is periostitis along the gluteal tuberosity caused by? Please help

I have an inflammation in the Maximus gluteus muscle caused by a 2 year old ski fall. Recently I am in so much pain! What can I do?

Get an evaluation: Have you gotten an MRI of that area? Probably the best way would be to consult an orthopedic doctor first, who would get the imaging study best suited to make the correct diagnosis first. Presuming that's what it turns out, a trial of intensive OT/PT, heat application etc. Would be ideal to alleviate the discomfort. Feel better? ...Read more

Could you describe "eccentric exercises" specifically for gluteuus minimus tendinosis? Thanks! (i'm asking for my wife.)

Muscle lengthening: In a dumbbell curl, the concentric phase involves flexing the arm by shortening the muscle. The eccentric phase occurs while straightening and lowering lowering the arm in a slow, controlled movement. The gluteus minimus abducts the thigh (moves it away from the other leg). The hip abductor gym machine will provide concentric exercise when pushing the legs apart, and eccentric as legs go together. ...Read more

There: There are a few options to fill the gluteal region. The most well known is a gluteal implant procedure. Gluteal implants are similar to breast implants. However, these implants are infrequently embraced by legitimate plastic surgeons because they are associated with a complication rate nearing 50%. Fat transfer is gaining popularity, but still is an imperfect procedure. Fat transfer involves the harvest of fat from a donor site (usually the abdomen, thighs, and/or lower back). The fat is then separated from any blood or tumescent fluid. It is then transferred through small cannulas into the recipient region. In this case, it would be the gluteal region. The down side is that very thin people are not good candidates for this procedure. Additionally, some of the recipient fat is reabsorbed or nonviable. It is generally accepted that 30-70% of the fat will be reabsorbed at one year following the procedure. ...Read more

How does therapy help gluteus medius tendinosis?

Muscle remodeling: There are 3 phases of healing for injuries: inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. Tendonosis occurs when this process gets stuck before the remodeling phase.
