Can a pinched nerve cause Numbness and weakness that comes and go on the right arm/hand and right leg/foot? Also, pain in the shoulder blade/bicep.

Yes: Numbness and weakness in the right upper and lower extremities may indicate nerve compression at the level of the spine. Consult with a physical medicine and rehabilition specialist would be appropriate. ...Read more

What causes a feeling of heaviness or weakness in both arms? The sensation is mostly in the bicep area. PCP said heart ok. Also pressure in jaws.

Other Possibilities: Nerves from Cervical spine could be affected. The blood flow going to the areas could be restricted, the muscles could be overused and not getting enough hydration-electrolytes causing lactic acid to build up. Also could be referred pain from abdomen-either right or left upper quadrants. And finally stress can do many things. Causes a chain reaction of neurohormonal fluctuations. ...Read more

Can vitamin d deficiency cause pain in back right arm and right leg with stiff calf muscles and tingling , a little right portion of back is stiff?

Vitamin D deficiency: would not be my first impression. Certainly significant vitamin D deficiency can cause symptoms of bone, joint or muscle pain, it would not be so localized as you suggest involving specific areas of the right leg and arm. I would be more suspicious of a nerve impingement syndrome involving your back. This requires careful evaluation by your doctor and possible imaging, i.e. CT or MRI.Make an appt ...Read more

I get neck massages for moderate to severe neck arthritis, often the pain seems to emanate in the muscles of my upper-back. Which should be main focus?

Multi focus: Moderate to severe neck arthritis can cause referred pain and spasms to the upper back muscles. Massage therapy can be helpful in reducing pain. In order to decrease the pain a multi disciplinary approach will likely be more successful including being mindful of posture/ergonomics, stretching and strengthening program, stress reduction and others. Forearm veins .. I recently lost blood circulation in my left arm but I got it back to flowing. Weird question but now one of the veins in my left arm looks different from my right arm. Should I be worried?

Prominent veins: Did you have blockage in the circulation at the age of 18 yrs ? What was the reason for it. It is not common to have upper extremity circulatory block especially at your age. Talk to some one with the detailed history. Block In the vein or artery? do you have preexisting blood clotting abnormality. It is not the visible vein but your underlying problem is more important to be addressed properly., ...Read more

If my right arm and hand from the elbow down are tingling, is this probably a sign of poor blood circulation?

If my right arm and hand from the elbow down are tingling, is this probably a sign of poor blood circulation?

Cubital tunnel: A more common cause of the described symptoms is compression of the ulnar nerve behind the elbow. Tingling from ulnar nerve goes into the small and ring finger. Try wearing an elbow pad with the pad rotated around to the front of the elbow at night. This keeps the elbow from bending, thereby keeping pressure off the nerve. If symptoms persist, consult with an upper extremity surgeon. Emg helpful. ...Read more

Rule out vasculitis : I would recommend you get seen immediately. It sounds like you may have vascular symptoms that may or may not be Takayasu's Arteritis. I am concerned that you need to be treated immediately in person because your dizziness may reflect cerebral ischemia. I am getting numbness in face and right arm at night is this due to poor circulation i also have pain in left carotid artery and weak heart?

Concerning: A blockage in the left carotid area can cause numbness, tingling and paralysis of the right side of the body. A vascular surgeon is best qualified to deal with this serious issue and I feel that this should be evaluated urgently. I assume you are already taking daily aspirin and more treatment may be needed to avoid a stroke if there is significant blockage in that artery. ...Read more

What exercises can I do to have improved circulation in my arms and legs?

What exercises can I do to have improved circulation in my arms and legs?

Many things: Almost any exercise that uses the arms or legs with increase the circulation to those parts. The muscles that move them require blood flow, so using them stimulates the blood to push the blood in. Swimming is great to work out all four extremities (arm & legs). An elliptical machine is also good. Other activities may be better for either arms or legs. ...Read more

I haven't used my right arm too much for some years and now it seems really weak and I have a hard time using it. What seems to be the problem? Thanks

See your physician: First, it is important to know why you haven't used your right arm. If an arm is not used for a long time, the muscles will atrophy and become weak. Strength will improve with exercise and physical therapy. This is uncommon in someone 16 years old. You need to see your physician for an evaluation of the problem in order to find the answer.. ...Read more
