I develop a runny nose when I run and it persists throughout my exercise. It's more frequent in winter. Is there medication to prevent drainage?

Exercise Induced: Rhinitis, is not uncommon, and affects some individuals who may be suffering as well from other forms of nasal problems, or not at all; at any rate try some OTC nasal steroid sprays before exercise, check with an allergist/immunologist for better evaluation (see aaaai. Org or acaai. Org) and see link below for more info, good luck

Son is 14 Y.O does not exercise and is skinny but not too skinny. He has the flu with soar throat and runny nose. His bpm ranges from 110-120. normal?

Sounds okay: You mean blood pressure, right? I glad he has a mom who can help him be comfortable during this illness. Not all teens want to exercise. Perhaps he will change his mind, or is why about starting. One great gift you could give him is family fitness -- everybody runs or does something else athletic together. My best fitness buddy as a teen was Dad. Best wishes. ...Read more

When I play my ps2, I get a stuffy / runny nose. So is this vasomotor rhinitis?

Moms would like that: Don't think so. I think that in order to take down the bad guys you are forced to sit on the carpet or the sofa for long periods of time with exposure to house dust mites or pet dander. You more likely have perennial allergic rhinitis to house dust mites, dog dander or cat dander. ...Read more

Can allergic rhinitis cause frontal sinus pain? No discolored mucus just clear runny nose

Can allergic rhinitis cause frontal sinus pain? No discolored mucus just clear runny nose

Sinusitis can...: Perhaps, but it is still likely due to an occlusion of drainage of the sinus. Most sinusitis is not a bacterial infection without signs such as discolored nasal mucous, increasing sinus pain, possibly fever, and usually has been going on for at least a week. Sinusitis can still occur from allergies or viral infections, and can present with clear mucus. Try afrin nasal, decongestants. ...Read more

Have nasal congestion, runny nose and sneezing made worse when exposed to low temperature. Nose blocks after sneezing. Do I have nonallergic rhinitis?

Possible: But in my experience, having sneezing spells (especially if you have eye symptoms) points more to allergic than non-allergic. Nonallergic rhinitis is a diagnosis of exclusion also since one needs to prove that allergies do not play a role. You may also have both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis as well. Try a nasal steroid spray ...Read more

Most mornings I wake up with a runny nose and very often have nasal congestion. No temperature & I feel fine. No known allergies. Vasomotor rhinitis?

Combination problems: Congestion after lying down is due to dilation of nasal tissues related to gravity. That said, if your septum was straight you probably wouldn't feel congested. Also, most people have at least mild allergies so when you say "no known" do you mean negative tests? It turns our there is a commin condition called "local allergic rhinitis" where the nose is allergic but tests are negative. See an ent. ...Read more

Yes and maybe-----: Hi my dear rhino means nose it is means irritation so rhinitis you have is not b, cause of allergy. It can be because of irritants like, perfume, temp. Sensitive, medications chemicals used in and outside the house irritants have made the turbinates to be swollen. Se an e.N.T doctor. ...Read more

Is non-allergic rhinitis common in asthma? Cough and mild wheezing are the only symptoms of asthma. No allergies- constant runny nose

All connected: In Chinese medicine, your lungs are connected to your entire respiratory system, including your lungs, your throat, your bronchial tubes, and your nose. So if your lungs are weak in something like asthma it would be likely that you'd also have a runny nose. It means that you need some strengthening of your lungs, and you should probably quit smoking. ...Read more

Do you have to have runny nose, sneezing etc to have allergic rhinitis I don't have either except for a swollen turbinate & clear fluid in ears.

Rhinitis: Runny nose, sneezing/congestion are the cardinal symptoms of rhinitis, whether allergic or non-allergic. Swollen turbinates and clear fluid in ear (middle ears), are rather signs of inflamed nasal passages affecting middle ears drainage, yes you can have them without the classic symptoms in acute conditions, if long standing, better see an ENT for evaluation, good luck ...Read more
