It depends,,,: It depends on how long you have had this and if it stops you from doing your regular activity. If it has been going on for a long time, it might be a good idea to see a doctor who specializes in joints like an Orthopedist. Get evaluated: Sometimes shoulder pain can overlap with cervical spine radiculopathy and therefore will not respond to injection. In addition to this you could have an underlying injury to your rotator cuff which is not responding to injection. Either way an MRI of the shoulder might be indicated if your pain has not resolved. If this is negative then there might be a neurological component that needs a workup. ...Read more

No: While dumbbell exercises can be very beneficial, they can also put stress on joints if not done properly. It sounds like you are putting stress on the shoulder joint and this should be avoided. Push ups are good exercises to tone the chest but can be modified to your level. If you are not sure how to do exercise the right way, seek out a personal trainer or physical therapist. ...Read more

No Trauma?: If no trauma one possibility is parsonage turner syndrome (acute idiopathic brachial plexopathy) its uncommon but i see one or two cases a year. You've pretty much described the acute presenting symptoms. I think you should see a neurologist if there is no reason to suspect traumatic injury of the shoulder itself. ...Read more
