Can congenital heart disease and impending heart attacks cause excessive sweating, esp. On the forehead?

As a result, faster heart rates, changes in blood pressure and sweating can occur, common to the classic fight-or-flight response. Hormone excess?: Face and head sweating is more common in women that are taking hormones. It can be from excess sympathetic tone or from volume changes being monitored by internal pressure receptors as might be your case with renal disease. My 2yo sweats excessively (head/back) after running around & when he falls asleep. His head is literally soaked. Any cause for concern?

Not necessarily: The head of a kid that age is a relatively large part of their body surface area and an easy portal to discard heat/sweat after running around. If the kid is robust, engaging in vigorous play, feeding well and growing normally I would have little concern. If he has only brief active periods followed by prolonged rest, I would want him evaluated. ...Read more

You're a 25-year-old man and have a duty to yourself and others to clear something like this up before it 'makes you depressed' and ineffective in the rest of your life. Excessive sweating of a toddler while at sleep. And cold to touch, starting from his head down to back. What's the real problem?

Sweating at night: Children's heads have a large surface area and they sweat to dissipate heat. If he is an active sleeper and wears a one-piece sleeper, is covered with a blanket, he may be sweating from the heat generated by his moving around. His head would have the most sweat then. If he is completely normal otherwise, it is not a problem. Double check that with your pediatrician next time you see him/her. ...Read more
