Swallowing problem: I can't be specific without examing you, but my guess is that your sore throat is associated with swelling inthe back of your throat. The swelling decreases how quickly you can swallow the saliva that you are producing. The throat and mouth/nose heal very quickly. 8-10 hours seems pretty fast but 24 hours not unheard of for small scrape/cut in this area.
