Examples Of Hand Eye Coordination
None: "eye hand coordination" refers to your eyes guiding your hands in 3 dimensions. More specifically, eye hand coordination is required to make complex, rapid motions in a controlled and accurate way. Video games do not require that skill: your fingers activate buttons in response to movements on a two dimensional screen. How then do you improve eye hand coordination? Get outside! Play a sport!
Motor coordination is the combination of body movements created with the kinematic (such as spatial direction) and kinetic (force) parameters that result in intended actions. Motor coordination is achieved when subsequent parts of the same movement, or the movements of several limbs or body parts are combined in a manner that is well timed, smooth, and efficient with respect ...Read more
Coordination of the: Eyes & hands requires intact circuits in the brain to process visual & proproceptive sensory input & normal ability to produce movement of eyes, hands arms & upper trunk. Proprioception =the brain's ability to process stimuli to maintain equilibrium & position & to produce normal fine- motor motions. Disruption at any site along the complex circuits impairs fine-motor functions.
Play tennis: Sports are the best therapy to improve coordination. Constant practice and trying different methods helps to activate and tune the circuits of our brains. Fun activity and sports add the sense of excitement and achievement and good health. Frustration and anger at our poor performance can be overcome and used as motivation to keep trying to get better.
Practice!: For instance: video games, table tennis (ping pong), sports, etc.
Practice: Practice makes perfect.Get a more detailed answer ›
Of course: Why else should professional baseball pay left handed pitchers more than right handers?
Hand-eye: Helps us to get along effectively in our environment. Improves function, limits injury, increases time efficiency, improves adls, among a myriad of other benefits.See 1 more doctor answer
Practice: Catching flies with chopsticks. Tennis ball against wall. Golf.
Video games: I would be skepotical as to the significance of improvement but this is controversial. There is some benefit.See 1 more doctor answer
Video-games: Video-games can be therapeutic as well as entertaining. Slower paced activities like hand-crafts, playing a musical instrument, dealing playing cards. Of course more typing would help.
Can be developed!: While some of this coordination in inherited, most often it is learned, and with much effort most people can improve substantially.
NO: Eye / hand coodination is a motor skill that can be enhanced through training - training would depend on the purpose. For instance - eye hand coordination for a baseball player - field ball, transfer hand and throw. Some people are better than others, and likely there is a limit as to what training can do, but certainly it works.
Visual-Motor: Integration requires requires intact vision & proprioception, sensory feedback from muscles & joints. The brain has to process & link sensory inputs, plan fine motor & gross motor acts, & send signals to the junctions of nerves & muscles to act. Muscles must have normal tone & strength to respond to signals correctly. Occupational & physical therapists test VMI to help define areas of deficits.
S/P stroke: Physical and occupational therapy, time, and practice all can be helpful. In severe strokes with severe deficits, there may not be a lot you can do.
