Why are drug and alcohol treatment programs cost so expensive?

Why are drug and alcohol treatment programs cost so expensive?

Not all are . . .: Private 28 day inpatient programs can be very expensive. Providers associated with a state health care plan (e.g., dept. Health hospital or medicaid) can be reasonable. Once you find a reasonable program, check the qualifications of the providers. What programs do they use? Are they client centered or do they use the same program for everyone? Talk to prior patients and get recommendations. ...Read more

Is there a way to help my husband get an alcohol treatment program?

Is there a way to help my husband get an alcohol treatment program?

U cant make him want: ...To stop & u cannot make him want to drink either. If what u are asking is how to motivate him, the resistance common among alcoholics is formidable. Couples therapy can feel threatening & blaming to him. Best bet is to change yourself - attend al-anon or codependents anonymous. U will learn what u can do to stop enabling his continuing on as he has been, while feeling better about yourself. ...Read more

Could atheists join and benefit from the "12 steps" alcohol treatment?

Most definitely: Aa does not demand any particular belief, only openness to spirituality. Spirituality is not religion. Aa talks of a "spiritual awakening." you could call it an "emotional awakening" and have it mean the same thing. In fact, I have known of particular aa meetings specifically for atheists and agnostics in some areas. ...Read more

Don't : Don't know the specifics of "significant withdrawal symptoms" that you mention (such as seizure, visual hallucinations). From a safety perspective she would best be seen by a doctor (on this weekend the emergency room for that matter) to cater temporary treatment to your daughter given the circumstances for now. There is always the risk of a breakthrough seizure or other serious withdrawals from alcohol with or without the continued use of alcohol or xanax (alprazolam)-like medications because the are a couple of things to consider too (such as sleep problems, amount of alcohol used, duration of alcohol misuse) plus i wouldn't detox someone on xanax (alprazolam) being that it is a very short acting sedative. In essence, err on the side of safety when the risk is great. ...Read more

Ever since an ear ache i always get water in ear which stays for days even with alcohol treatment . Alcohol treatment also stays in ear for days. Why?

Dont put it in ear: If you are feeling liquid in your ear, it may be a discharge from a middle ear infection with a hole in the eardrum. Do not put alcohol into your ear. It is toxic to tissues, and if you have a perforated eardrum it can cause damage to the delicate structures of the middle ear. See your health care provider and/or an ear, nose and throat specialist. ...Read more

Recently diagnosed with chronic hepatitis c, fibrosis, cirrhosis and renal disease.I need resources for alcohol treatment. Please and thank you?

Liver Disease: I am very proud of you for asking this question. Your health is at significant risk. It is time to stop drinking and it is easier with help. Without knowing much about your life my gut sense is that you need an inpatient program that also has a medical component to it. You have very good programs in california. The betty ford center is excellent. ...Read more
