Really bad constipation! doc said miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily, can I try miralax (polyethylene glycol) mixed in prune juice for better results since prune juice didn't help by itself?
Yes, however...: It is wise to treat constipation and MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) may help; it is safe to take with prune juice. But this does not address the cause; eat more fiber, drink more water, exercise, try probiotics, get tested for hypothyroidism. I advise you try triphala, an ayurvedic formula that has many health benefits ; better addresses the cause: http://www.Planetherbs.Com/specific-herbs/the-wonders-of-triphala.Html. ...Read more

Constipation. Laxatives, fiber, water, diet changes, even castor oil haven't worked. Colonoscopy 3 years ago showed no bowel obstruction. Help?
Schedule changes: May try getting up 15 minutes earlier, exercising, and then having a warm breakfast and then time to go to the bathroom for bowel function. This is retraining your bowel and may help. This may take a few days to help, but please be patient. Cut back on dairy products, as this can cause constipation. Sorry you have had so much trouble, but this can be treated. ...Read more

Add exercise also.: Atonic colon can be due to the absence of myenteric plexus or overuse of laxatives. If your colonoscopy and ct scan were normal, increased water intake, exercise and a high fiber diet will help. Add Miralax (polyethylene glycol): Constipation or stool holding is not uncommon at 22 months of age. It is very difficult to make a toddler eat the required amount of fiber/juice daily to overcome hard stools. To treat the stool holding/constipation i recommend 1/2 capful of MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) daily-an otc stool softener-adjust the dose so your child has 1-3 soft easy thin stools daily. I would continue it for 4-6 months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
