Evidence Based Treatment For Chemical Dependency
Treatment: You will be disappointed going to the drug store. You could buy some vitamins and try to stop. Most alcohol dependent people need a structured program, such as aa, or an inpatient treatment program were you can be treated with detox meds. Not all alcoholics need detox meds, all need support, education, vitamins, and do better with a structured program. ...Read more
This is up to YOU: There is no easy treatment for alcoholism. This disease is more common than you think. The first step towards recovery is as simple as you deciding you are ready. Seek help, support, and camaraderie from others (who have been there) in a group, such as aa. If 12 steps are not for you there are plenty of other options (save our selves, lifering, women for sobriety). Make the call, and good luck! ...Read more
Here are some...: The excitement to search alternative meds/herbs seems having died down lately. The ingredients of so-called alternative meds usually include saw palmetto, pygeum, bee pollen, zinc, selenium, lycopene, vitamins, etc. The studies on these failed to constantly prove their claimed effects, at best, marginal and inconsistent. Of course, another wave of similar effort may loom; time will tell. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Psychosocial treatments that go hand in hand with meds include: family therapy, social skills training & voc rehab. ...Read more

Herbal mole removal: I think that they are a bad idea. Destroying a lesion without being able to examine it pathologically is bad because sometime the most innocuous looking "moles" can be cancer. An amelanotic melanoma will not have any pigment in it and can look like a small reddish bump. It is unlikely that the creams would adequately remove such a lesion.I have seen cancers in "skin tags" and other unexpected spot. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

ETG test: Is there a list of pers. care ingredients that cause/yield incidental exposure to alcohol or its breakdown products? Is Phenoxyethanol one?
Don't know of a list: but phenoxyethanol would not be on it in any case. Ethanol is NOT absorbed through intact skin, and in this product, the ethanol is complexed with a benzene ring that does not allow it to become free. Only alcohol containing mouthwashes that are swallowed, and skin sanitizers that are inhaled can cause positive ETGs. If a sensible cut-off (250-500 ng/ml) is used, this eliminates most of them. ...Read more
