Cn eating fast and being anxious whilst eating cause GERD in young adult if been doing for 3 years? Get chest pain/stomach pain bending over after eat

Yes, although it: might not be GERD, just burping (get an MD to look at this). Sounds like anxiety rules your eating habits, so deal with the anxiety. Eating slowly, chewing thoroughly and drinking only a little water with the food will aid digestion, minimize gaseous backlash and stomach/intestinal pain. Enjoy your food as much as possible and see someone about that anxiety. ...Read more

Can GERD cause body aches . ? I have severe GERD anything I eat gives me heart burn my back legs arms and shoulders are achy !

Not likely: I think we are dealing with 2 different conditions. Severe heartburn will need to be addressed with a trial of PPI's- Omeprazole, Pantoprazole, etc and a GERD type of diet. The aches will have to better studied, their timing, relation to activities, etc. Let your doctor know about your symptoms. ...Read more

GERD: is a "finding" by studies (X RAY.....GASTROSCOPY) and may be completely ASYMPTOMATIC!

Thus your pain is NOT explained by GERD but the normal studies should be encouraging!

Report your remaining symptoms to your treating Provider for more ?additional treatment!

Hope this helps!

I've read gerd/heartburn is often caused by low stomach acid and not too much. Is this true or more of a holistic/natural type point of view?

Not true: GERD is caused by contents in the stomach coming up through the esophagus, which in turn has a poorly understood cause. We think it is probably due to too many random openings of the valve. Certain medications can also cause the valve to open, as can stress, obesity, & problems with the stomach emptying to name a few. Hope this helps! ...Read more
