Briefly: Etomidate=Amidate, hypnotic agent used in general anesthesia and brief sedation. It works by altering specific brain receptors (GABA). We use it when we need to have stable or increased heart rate and blood pressure at the beginning of anesthesia (a time when those things can drop quite a bit with other drugs). Maybe: I am not aware of this. Etomidate comes in a 35% solution with propylene glycol which might give a false positive depending on the assay method, but this would not last long, would not likely be high and there would not likely be any concern of etoh intake around the time of etomidate or succ use. ...Read more
