My estrogen, progesterone & testosterone levels are extremely low- as is my dhea & vitamins d & b considering pellet therapy. Is this best? I'm 38.

NO cures: First see an endocrinologist to find out the cause of the low levels, if they are really low in a reputable lab. Bring your labs with you. Pellets, popular in australia, are used by too many ill trained people in the us. There are many other options to explore if you really are deficient. ...Read more

Taking estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone is known to be a risk factor for causing blood clots. Is the same true of pregnenolone and dhea?

Unknown, probably no: Supplements such as dhea and pregnenolone are not regulated by the fda and have no good studies that demonstrate that they do anything beneficial for any medical condition. The safety of these supplements is also unknown. You appear to be very young to have to be on hormone supplements. I am a 45 year old female that is experiencing severe cystic acne on my chin with acne on my forehead. Labs show low testosterone with normal estrogen and progesterone. Will testosterone help or cause more acne.

Can high progesterone in males lower sodium in the blood and increase testosterone conversion to estrogen?

What causes high progesterone (3x upper limit) in post-menapausal female? (also testosterone 4x upper limit). Very low estrogen. Hyst. 2007, 1 ovary

Have labs repeated.: If they remain in this range, it may be that you have some metabolic defect that is causing a build up of those hormones. Progesterone is a precursor to the other hormones, and rarely testosterone-secreting ovarian tumors can develop on the ovaries, so you need a sonogram to look for that, also, was it total or free testosterone that was that high. Total that high more conerning than free. ...Read more

My dr choked my hormones&my testosterone levels are really elevated&the others estrogen is low.Dr put me on progesterone 10%cream.Seen no difference.?

High and low: Female cyclic hormones like Estradiol (estrogen) vary widely in a pattern during a cycle, so it's usually not helpful to call estrogen 'high' or 'low' without regard to when in the cycle it was done. How high was the testosterone? I don't understand what the reason for Progesterone cream to treat (?) testosterone would be, maybe to start a new cycle? ...Read more

Inner lining: Estrogens produced by the ovaries during the first half of the menstrual cycle, before ovulation, make the inner lining of the uterus grow to provide a nice cushion for a fertilized egg. After ovulation the ovaries start producing progesterone which transforms the inner lining into that nice cushion. When there is no pregnancy, both hormone levels drop at the end of the cycle and menses commence. ...Read more
