Estrogen Imbalance In Men
Rarely given to men: Estrogen should not generally be given as hormone therapy to men. Exceptions are (very mrarely) treatment of advanced prostate cancer, or male to female trangender patients. I would expect estrogen to decrease horniness as testosterone is the most important hormone for male sex drive, and most men have much more testosterone than estrogen in their blood (a 10:1 ratio or higher is normal). ...Read more
Testosterone and dhe: Acne can be seen in men of all ages due to hormonal fluctuations. Improving the acne is good skin care, improving your diet (eat low glycemic, more fruits and veggies rather than refined foods, decreasing dairy) and the use of peels or lasers depending on how severe it is. You have Accutane as an option but only for severe acne. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Can high progesterone in males lower sodium in the blood and increase testosterone conversion to estrogen?
Is it true that testosterone levels in women increase during menstruation and estrogen levels decrease?
It doesn't: Spironolactone is a diuretic that also happens to block testosterone receptors in hair follicles. Since many women with P COS experience some degree of hirsutism as a result of the elevated testosterone common with PCOS the Spironolactone is prescribed to block the receptors to prevent those hair changes. The only men who take them are "body builders" who put their faith in pharmacology instead of their genetics and work ethic, and then suffer the consequences for their poor decision making. Why do men who have klnefelters syndrome taller? They have more estrogen so should they not be shorter?
Forgive my frankness: You will be told at various times by "environmentally conscious persons" that estrogens in the diet and the environment are ruining humankind and other living things, and that "phytoestrogens" are also extremely good for you. After 30 years, I'm totally unimpressed, and most of the claims have fizzled scientifically. Others here may disagree, but I say eat what you wish. ...Read more

Low estrogen=myth: Your estrogen levels naturally vary by the day of your cycle and your age. I agree with dr mikhail, the popular press has made a myth out there that there is a balance level for hormones. If you are not on a prescription hormone pill, and not menopausal, your estrogen levels are highest in the first half of your menstrual cycle, getting lower in the later half. That is natural. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
