Estratab Estrogen Based Agent
I have been trying to get my hormones balanced. How risky are drugs like menest (esterified estrogens)?
Is there a generic therapeutic substitution for estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone)?
Yes...: ...But perhaps you mean bioidentical. All hormones are biochemicals. Estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) is a combination of methyltestosteone, which is synthetic and not the same as your own testosterone, and mixed estrogen hormones which are excreted by pregnant mares in their urine. These hormones are similar to, but not identical to, natural human hormones.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes for most women: The generic of Estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) is called ee-mt (ethinyl Estradiol / methyl-testosterone). For many women this medication will decrease menopausal symptoms (hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, etc}. It will also improve libido for many women as well. Long term benefits of hormone replacement therapy include decreased risk for stroke, mi, colon cancer, alzheimer's disease, and osteoporosis.
What is the comparable/equivalent to estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) hs? I would like to match it as best i can since it currently is unavailable and i did quite well on it
Syntest: There was a generic available, called syntest. Same doseage. I believe this is still available, check with your pharmacy.
What is the definition or description of: Estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) allergy?
Allergy : There is not a specific allergic reaction to specific drugs. Typical allergic reactions range from hives, swelling of the throat or inability to breath. Some people experience negative side effects from drugs such as nausea, irritability, itching but this is not an allergic reaction and rather just a side effect
Is there a replacement drug for prescription estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone)?
Yes: Generic equivalents include Covaryx and EEMT. There are alsomany compounded creams, gels, sprays, etc. Compounded drugs are made by a local compounding pharmacy based on a prescription written by your doctor. The advantage is that your doctor can adjust the dose and ratio to your unique needs since one or two sizes do not fit all women. Best wishes

Had ovarian cancer at 31, on estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) hormone replacement for 20 yr dr wants me to stop med to naturally have menopause why and what can I expect?
Can i stop hormone replacement therapy cold turkey or should I wean myself off of it have been taking estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) HS for many years. I am now 53 and want to stop
Seek Gynegologist : I would encourage you to talk with your gynecologist before stopping any hormone therapy. There are many benefits to hrt that are not obvious the most vital one is preventing osteoporosis. Other therapy is available and should be considered if one stops hrt.See 1 more doctor answer
Why would a doctor order a ROMA test based solely on high estrogen levels when no other diagnostic tests have been ran?
ROMA test.: 44F of unknown medical Hx asks: Why would a doctor order a ROMA test based solely on high estrogen levels when no other diagnostic tests have been ran? ANS: Have no idea what a ROMA test is. Abbreviations are dangerous in Medicine. Best to ask the Dr who ordered test as knows you much better than we do from the information you gave.
Estrogen: Yes it is in plants but it is much more reliable when developed and made in a professional laboratory.
As a doctor, would u sugest an estrogen or progesterone based bc since I am highly prone to cysts, let alone have them.?
Estrogen/progestin: To avoid misunderstanding, all bc is basically progestational in action - that's how it works - regardless of whether it contains estrogen or not. There is no science to give a'rule' about which is more effective/less risky for functional ovarian cysts, it's based on trial and error. That said, i think most do better with a combination oc containing both, start with that.See 1 more doctor answer
